two bodies of water ,but only difference is depth ,one 5ft, 2nd is 6ft , both same size also ,now would you catch more and bigger from the 6ft one,or less and smaller from the 5ft one,just cause of one ft of water ? or be the same ,

i think 1ft of water makes a difference, deeper water bigger fish,

what's your thoughts , if deeper water bigger fish or not?

shallow has big fish too, don't get me wrong,

10' or less is shallow so in your exmple, both bodies of water would be lumped together

and the same. What is far more important is seasonal change. If a body of water dries

up ocassionally there is a dramatic impact on the fish population!

There are way too many variables to make that statement. I fish some lakes that just don't have good habitat so the bass aren't there. But up here, neither lake would stand a chance if it wasn't deep. We get winter kills on shallow lakes all the time.

Deeper water- bigger fish. Hmmm ....

Exception to that rule would be all of Florida. Lol.

RW is right though, its a weather pattern issue. If our water froze hard here in Florida. .... we would have no large bass, because our waters are (generally) shallow. Well that, and the Florida strains would die. But were talking theoretical depth here.

I have a couple of friends in Tampico, Tamaulipas; as many know Tamaulipas is one of the big bass Meccas we have in Mexico ( Yup, Falcon, Vicente Guerrero, Sugar are in Tamaulipas ) when you live in Tampici you have a lot of places to fish, it´s right at the Gulf of Mexico, there is a beautiful lagoon called "la Escondida " about 40 min from Tampico navigating up the Tamesí River, the lagoon is cristal clear, bottom covered with valisneria style aquatic plants, tules along the shoreline and at it´s deepest point the lagoon is no more than 10 ft deep, the interesting thing is that you don´t fish at 10 ft deep beacuse most of the lagoon is less than 10 ft, maybe 6-7 ft deep. If we were to asume that bigger fish live in deeper waters then we would be screwed in this case, it´s not uncommon to catch 10+ lb fish in that lagoon I´ve seen my friends Tony and Roque pull out several of them, my biggest one in that place is a 9.5 lber.

 

So no, deep wáter does not equal bigger bass.
