hawgmaster Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Deciding between getting the Ascend FS12T or the Wilderness Systems Tarpon 100. They are both around the same price. The things I like about the FS12T is that is has a ton of deck space and a big space in the front and back. The FS12T is also 12 foot so it might track better. The Tarpon 100 is 10 feet long but it has slide tracks installed already and it has two dry hatch storage spaces. You can even store rods in the hatch up front. What do you fellas think? Thanks, Lucas Quote

hawgmaster Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 how will you be transporting it? it and what do you want to do with it? I have a Truck with an 8 foot bed that I will use to haul it. I will be doing a lot of bass fishing out of it. Occasionally crappie/bluegill and cat fishing out of it. Quote

200racing Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 not doing any shoals/rapids i would go with the 12. the only advantage i see in 10 is better maneuverability is shoals and small water. my b.i.l. has a fs128t and a d10t. he got the 10fter after getting tired of the lack of maneuverability on some of the small creeks we run. on the coosa and tallapoosa river the bigger boat shines. Ok cool. I also like the deck space on the FS12T. It has so much potential to rig it however I like. Quote
hawgmaster Posted September 2, 2014 Author Posted September 2, 2014 what would you recommend using for attaching things to your kayak? rivets or marine grade screws? Quote
Mr. BattleArmor Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 what would you recommend using for attaching things to your kayak? rivets or marine grade screws? Neither, I use well nuts, available on austinkayak.com As was said before, it depends what you are using the kayak for. I see the 12 being better if you wanna stand a lot though. And I never see myself needing to have space to store rods on a kayak, but again it depends on yourself. I just use a crate with rod holders built into that. I have an Ascend d10t and the width makes it really stable I use it fishing inshore. It also has an open deck like the fs12, and I generally can keep a lot of stuff on it such as a rod, cooler, and other sorts of things, and keep the crate behind me. Quote

I just checked out those well nuts on the ack website and they look fantastic! I will use those when I get my yak. Thank you for the help! Quote
