Squirmin Wormin Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 gonna keep this simple , besides they're length and joints ,what's their good sides? bad sides ,and ugly sides , your opinion only Quote
C0lt Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 the idea behind jointed lures obviously is that the joints are supposed to give the lure more action. When its done properly, the action is increased. However in my opinion there are a lot of cheaper jointed lures (especially swimbaits) that just dont really increase the action that much. one example i have of this is my opinion on the stormy kicking slab (which ive never gotten to run straight to this day) really not much action in those joints. Super User Catch and Grease Posted August 23, 2014 Super User Posted August 23, 2014 One bad thing is that on most (Not all) jointed lures is that the hooks and line sometimes will get caught in a joint ruining your cast. Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted August 23, 2014 Super User Posted August 23, 2014 some jointed lures they use the joints to make a clacking noise for added attraction, others use it to add movement. But yes it has to be done right or the hooks or joints can hang up and foul which is the bad part. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted August 24, 2014 Super User Posted August 24, 2014 Sebile Magic Swimmers run straight for me and they look cool going through the water. I've yet to catch fish on one. I don't fish them that often. Quote
BobP Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 IMO they have their place. A jointed lure has a vastly different action than a non-jointed variety and it has a more natural looking movement through the water. But they move less water, which to me makes their attraction more a "feeding" look than a "reaction" look. The same lure in a jointed version will dive shallower than its solid counterpart. Personally, I favor lures with a single joint. Quote
