BasshunterJGH Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I want to get a 7 ft mh cranking rod for this fall when I do a lot of cranking what is the best rod under $200? I'm open to almost any rod I'm not very brand biased. Quote
Gabriel052 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I recently picked up the St. Croix mojo bass cranking rod. I absolutely love it. The crankster is a 7'4 medium power, moderate action. It is made out of fiberglass so it is very tough and has a super sweet parabolic bend to it. I am never worry that I'm going to straighten out treble hooks, or rip a hole in the fishes mouth. Quote
mjn9 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I agree with Gabriel052. I have the Mojo and its a good rod but it can't compare to my St. Croix Avid. I thought it was definitely worth the extra money...right around $190. Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted August 23, 2014 Global Moderator Posted August 23, 2014 Phenix composite crank series Agree... Been useing the 7'0 X11 and love it. (X13 is same power but 7'6") It's thier designated deep diver rod but I use it for all cranking. The X10 is rated a little lighter. (X12 is 7'6") Mike Quote
Super User FishTank Posted August 23, 2014 Super User Posted August 23, 2014 The Shimano Crucial gets my vote. It has the right balance for most of the medium size crankbaits I fish. I have the 7' MH model. Quote
Capt.Bob Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Avid MHM, the only one I found I like better,,,,,the older Extreme with cork handles, in MHM, but its 4 bill's. If I had to choose one of the new models, the Avid would be my pick and under 200 buck's the only one I would look at. Quote
Greeneye8181 Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Avid > Crucial Avid is lighter and I like the cork handle better (although I believe the newer Crucial rods have cork) Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted August 24, 2014 Super User Posted August 24, 2014 Have heard good things about the Mojo Crankers and the Halos. Quote
