Squirmin Wormin Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 might be a question worth asking , and a good one . if you were in the wild ,which three lures would you take ? not any more than that. in my list would be ,worm, mepp's spinner #2 and small jig, to make it out in the wild say 2 wks. Super User Catch and Grease Posted August 22, 2014 Super User Posted August 22, 2014 Probably a beetle spin, marabou jig, and a very small tube 1inch or less. that way you could catch any fish in the water for a meal. Quote
Squirmin Wormin Posted August 22, 2014 Author Posted August 22, 2014 gonna ad my own reply to this, people can go without food for 7days then well kinda in a jam and all you have is a pole and 3 lures, Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 22, 2014 Super User Posted August 22, 2014 Many survival kits come with a jig, my pick would be an 1/4 oz saltwater bucktail jig because of the stronger hook. Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 22, 2014 Super User Posted August 22, 2014 Spinnerbait, Jig, 5" C tail grub. Quote

I agree except for the worm. The work will get ripped up and you can't replace it. Id with an extra spinner in case you lose one Quote

Super User F14A-B Posted August 23, 2014 Super User Posted August 23, 2014 I would rather use tiny flys, ant/ mosquito, and just bare hooks for potential live bait rigging... Though I mite well eat the worm/ grub outta hunger/ protein Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 23, 2014 Super User Posted August 23, 2014 Thinking about the topic, Survival Lures. If I planned on having 3 lures with me I'd have a rod too, that isn't survival it's a fishing trip or outing with limited gear. Survival, I'd like a spear so I can defend myself as well hunt and fish. 2 Quote
HeavyDluxe Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 If I'm fishing to survive - especially if from the bank - I'm targeting panfish. In an hour of fishing, I can almost assure that I'll catch enough for a meal on any healthy body of water. So, bare hooks for bugs, a very small jig, and something like a beetle/mepps spinner or small crank. 1 Quote
FirstnameLastname Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Many of these responses have a common problem. They want to use inline spinners or beatle spins. Just because you have lures doesn't mean you have a reel to get those lures reeling fast enough to work properly. Have you ever tried hand lining a inline spinners it doesn't work. I would want bait holder hooks ranging from size 10 to 1 and some split shot. I could also spear or trap my fish. There is such thing as the fishing equivalent of a spring snare. Quote
