Super User flyfisher Posted August 22, 2014 Super User Posted August 22, 2014 To make a long story short, we had the opportunity to get a purebred rottie puppy for next to nothing so we decided to go for it. We have two mutts now who were both rescues and are both at least 10 years old. One is a rottie/chow mix and the other one is a lab/golden retriever mix of some sort. My son just turned 4 a little over a month ago and every boy needs a puppy.... 7 Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted August 22, 2014 Super User Posted August 22, 2014 One of the best dogs in my opinion..and you got a cutie. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted August 22, 2014 Super User Posted August 22, 2014 Indeed, every boy DOES need a dog. Or a really good cat, LOL. For my 4 boys, we've got 3 dogs, a cat, about 14 snakes, 2 turtles, 2 missing Russian tortoises, and a Savannah Monitor. Life is good with animals around!! 3 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted August 22, 2014 Author Super User Posted August 22, 2014 wow i might need to bring my son down to visit your zoo lol we used to have 4 dogs and were gonna get a 5th but then we have to get a kennel license so we didn't. Our next dog will be an english bulldog though for sure Quote

I would like to get either a monitor or bearded Dragon. 1 Quote

I have *always* wanted one.... Quote

Has a good-sized "tank" with areas to soak, climb out of the heat lamps, burrow, etc. But sometimes I wish we had a simpler life...LOL. 1 Quote

Super User Darren. Posted August 22, 2014 Super User Posted August 22, 2014 So your a zoo keeper in your spare time. Nice job Dr Doolittle . A-Jay I'm a "reluctant" zoo keeper. Wish my boys took "better" or "more frequent" care of the critters so I didn't have to compensate. Now the "missing Russian tortoises" is a completely different matter. They escaped our beautiful outdoor enclosure on their own accord. Virginia will soon have a breeding population, likely... * I deny any and all culpability * 3 Quote

Preytorien Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Oh man, that's cute. Great looking dog. And you're right, every boy needs a pup, they become best friends REAL quick. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted August 22, 2014 Super User Posted August 22, 2014 Every Boy does indeed need a puppy ~ My son & Kodi were best buddies and rack mates for most of his childhood. A-Jay Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted August 22, 2014 Author Super User Posted August 22, 2014 Anthony is still a little scared of him, he says he keeps trying to bite me daddy so i told him well you need to teach him what he can and cannot bite. he is just dying for him to play fetch with him....the little guy is doing ok though and can already handle steps and plays with his toys so it won't be long before he is playing fetch with him. My other two dogs aren't quite sure about him yet, well the one at least. the lab/retriever mix gave a few sniffs and didn't really care too much the rottie/chow mix is a little more inquisitive and has been following him around our yard and is already protective of the little guy so that is a good thing. What he doesn't know that in about 2 months this puppy will probably be bigger than he is Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 22, 2014 Super User Posted August 22, 2014 Anthony named him.....drum roll please..... Biscuit Man, that´s not a good name for a Rottie, something with more macho in it, like ... Cupcake ! And don´t get a Bulldog, unless you want to help your veterinarian to pay his mortgage, they can get quite expensive, ask me, I´m a veterinarian. God bless Bulldog owners. 2 Quote

I had a bulldog and he was super healthy....unfortunately he went crazy and got super aggressive when he turned about 6. My vet, who specialized in bulldogs, said he could count the number of bulldogs that were completely healthy and those who were aggressive on one hand and then said well, you have both lol Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted August 22, 2014 Super User Posted August 22, 2014 Great looking pup. They are a fantastic breed. Quote
speed craw Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Good looking dog , a man's true best friend . If you dont believe me lock your wife & dog in the trunk of your car for a couple of hours and see who is happy to see you when you return . Your son will remember his puppy far long after he is gone . 1 Quote
