Super User tcbass Posted August 21, 2014 Super User Posted August 21, 2014 I was watching a fishing show and saw that the guy had what appeared to be 3 Power Poles. On closer inspection he had 2 Power Poles and something that appeared to be a vertical rod. I researched it and discovered that it is Hummingbird's 360's transducer pole that works with the 360' Hummingbird fish locator. It seems very intriguing and the idea sounds plausible. Does anyone here have a Hummingbird 360' fish locator or similar and is it worth it? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 21, 2014 Super User Posted August 21, 2014 There is no 360 Humminbird fish locator. All Ethernet capable Humminbird Side Imaging units (except the 1197) can use the Ethernet 360 accessory. Additionally all the Ethernet capable 2014 year model units can use it that are not SI units. I have the trolling motor mount version. Look at the posted images above. Quote

It produces a 150-ft. beam that sweeps in every direction to create a 300-ft. circle of detection around your boat, letting you see fish all around you without moving over them (1.6 acres of total coverage). The imaging beam sweeps the surrounding water and detects fish, underwater structure, rocks, terrain changes and more – helping you target fish hideouts with surgical precision that would remain hidden to other sonar devices. Four beam speeds and adjustable 10°-360° sweep areas let you fine tune the system and isolate specific areas for maximum detail or faster returns. The lower beam speeds scan slower and more thoroughly to produce better-quality images, while the higher beam speeds deliver faster refresh rates. The adjustable sweep area lets you adjust the beam sweep between 10°-360° in any direction, or choose one of four preset sweep settings that scan fore, aft, port or starboard with a 180° arc. Mark important returns with a waypoint and keep track of productive fishing spots with the GPS on your Humminbird unit (select units only). Split-screen views also let you see 360° imaging with SwitchFire™ sonar or GPS cartography. Adjustable beam sensitivity for adapting to varying water conditions. Choose from eight color palettes for easy viewing. Adjustable image sharpness for clearer resolution in different light conditions. The 360 Imaging Transducer Deployment System silently lowers the transducer below the hull and prop for unobstructed views at every angle. The transducer can be deployed with easy-to-use buttons on the Transducer Deployment System housing or by using the controls on your Humminbird fish-finder unit – and it’s adjustable to prevent grounding andallows you to fish shallower depths. Requires an Ethernet-ready, Side Imaging®-equipped Humminbird fish finder (not included). Older side-imaging units will need a software update.Compatible with: 798c HD 898c 998c 1198c Ion Series Onix Series 1199ci HD SI 1198c HD SI 1159ci HD DI 1159ci HD 999ci HD SI 998c HD SI 998c SI 959ci HD DI 959ci HD 899ci HD SI 898c HD SI 898c SI 859ci HD DI 859ci HD 798ci HD SI Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 21, 2014 Super User Posted August 21, 2014 The trolling motor version does not have the "deployment system", it deploys with the trolling motor. I am familiar with both versions and have fished with both versions. BTW, there is no such unit as the first one listed. The transom model is not suitable for some of the waters I fish, like this: Quote
Slade House Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 for someone who has a terrova ipilot and can't put the trolling version. why is the above not suitable for the transom mount? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 24, 2014 Super User Posted August 24, 2014 for someone who has a terrova ipilot and can't put the trolling version. why is the above not suitable for the transom mount? The transom 360 is somewhat like the Talon shallow water anchor and hangs down below the transom far enough to be below the outboard lower unit when in use. The unit is $1999.99 MSRP. Would you lower that below the bottom of the boat and go through that timber????? 1 Quote
scrutch Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 I have the transom mount 360 imaging with an 1198cSI. I fish all kinds of water with it from stump fields to open water and almost everything in between. I have only left it down once by mistake and dragged it through a lilly pad field plowing lilly pads for about 100 feet. It retracted most of the way until I removed all the debris and then it came the rest of the way up. No damage whatsoever. I think there should be an auto-retract feature so that dragging it through bottom and obstructions isn't possible. Overall, I like it. There have been a few issues that I have ironed out over time. Most were issues with the original software. It works pretty good now. I can see all around my boat in deep or shallow water. It is really good at finding hidden laydowns and cover in shallow water (3-4ft). It is also good for "spotlocking" (minn kota terrova) on a good piece of cover or underwater structure and being able to make accurate casts to that cover because I can always see where it is in relation to the boat. There are many other good uses for it, too many to get into here. Youtube search "Doug Vahrenberg" and watch his videos on the 360. Quote
