WdyCrankbait Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Hey everyone, I'm heading out fishing tomorrow with Sam and I picked up some Spike it (only dye I recognized) at my local tackle store. I wanted to ask if anyone has dipped their Rage Bug claws in this or JJ's, and if it made a difference. Thanks everyone, Wdy Quote
Ginosocalbass Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 It makes a huge difference in my soft plastics, especially craws. a little orange/chartreuse on the tips of the claws has made a differance for me in the past. 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 21, 2014 Super User Posted August 21, 2014 I spoke with Big O last week and he recommended tipping The Bug, but what does he know? 5 Quote
WdyCrankbait Posted August 21, 2014 Author Posted August 21, 2014 yeah, I have been on the back of boats with many friends dipping their soft plastics and suffered from not. But, Rage Bugs are not in stores here in central VA yet, (that I know of) and I thought maybe the "newness," of the Bug by itself would be enough. But, I guess you can never have enough luck on your side right? Quote
Balshy Fishing Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I actually dipped the arms of my PB&J rage bug in chartreuse today and whaddya' know -- bite. Quote
Super User tcbass Posted August 21, 2014 Super User Posted August 21, 2014 I spoke with Big O last week and he recommended tipping The Bug, but what does he know? What does he recommend tipping it with? I saw some Megastrike at Dick's the other day but it was $8.99. Yikes! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 21, 2014 Super User Posted August 21, 2014 JJ's, but Spike It will dye the bait. Regarding MegaStrike, I use it on every bait, all of the time...No exceptions other than live bait. The cost is nominal. One tube will last most guys a year or two, unless it gets "borrowed". Quote

papajoe222 Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 If you're looking to add a little color it's the way to go. I've used both to color many of my plastics. If you're just looking to add scent, I'd skip it. RageTails and any of the Coffee scented baits from StrikeKing don't need it and that comment is from a guy that adds scent (CB's Hawg Sauce) to just about everything including hard baits. Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 22, 2014 Super User Posted August 22, 2014 Yes. And. If you dip your nose in either Spike It or JJs your lovely wife will be impressed and let you buy that new bass boat you want!!! 3 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 22, 2014 Super User Posted August 22, 2014 So, Big O uses JJ's and you use Megastrike all the time? Big O uses JJ's sometimes for color accent on his Rage Tail Baits. I use JJ's or Spike It for the same purpose, but I prefer MegaStrike for scent, lubrication and ease of use. The goo is VERY user friendly. 1 Quote
boostr Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Tell you the truth I use both, and they work. Concerning Mega Strike and the cost, it's definitely worth it. Follow the instructions, a little dab will do ya. Quote
