Chance_Taker4 Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Ok I am in the market for a couple new rods $100 is my max unless I buy another Denali Kovert ($129). I need a shakey head spinning rod and a MH rod for Deep Cranks. This is how I have it narrowed but I will take all opinions Spinning Rod Denali Jadewood J2 shakeyrod Denali Kovert Shakeyrod Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 Duckett Ghost Cast Rod Denali Kovert Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 Lamiglas Excel II Bass *** Black Denali Jadewood J2 Quote
Cgrinder Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Why not the *** for a spinning rod? I think if there's a Winch model in the new Veritas line, I'd do that for deep cranks. Quote

Smallmouth Hunter Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 The *** would not be a good choice for a deep crank rod.. The action on the *** rods is faster than most fast actions and you will lose fish because of it. If it were my money, I'd get the veritas 2.0 winch or even the old gen veritas. I like my winch rods. 1 Quote

I was kinda leaning towards the Veritas 2.0 Winch, Lamiglas, or Denali J2. But I'm favoring the Veritas 2.0 a little more. Quote

My cousin applied and got on and had never used their rods. Plus you get them extremely cheap if you are on it. You can get their Rosewood series for under $100. Quote

Super User smalljaw67 Posted August 21, 2014 Super User Posted August 21, 2014 The Spinning rod I'd choose at that price point for shaky heads would be the Fenwick HMG either the 6'9" ML-F or the 7' ML-F, both are rated right in the wheel house for weights you are going to use plus it has a lifetime warranty. Gabriel052 Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Really like the Veritas 2.0. As far as spinning rods, seems like an awesome rod! Quote
Brian6428 Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I love my *** 13 Black casting rod. Great sensitivity. Quote
Tyler j Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Simple just get 2 Duckett Ghost rods and love them Quote
bass1980 Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 *** *** has a 5 year warranty and they get your replacement in about 1-2 weeks. I got mine in 9 days! Duckett Ghost has a 1 year warranty which sucks. I had Veritas 1.0 and didn't like them but maybe the 2.0 is better? Don't know anything about the other listed. Good luck. Quote
Chance_Taker4 Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 Thanks guys for all the help but I went with what JGBassInAL suggested and am now on the Denali Pro Staff. So I am now in the process of selling off all my other rods to covert fully over to Denali. Thank You to all!!! Quote
