Super User tcbass Posted August 20, 2014 Super User Posted August 20, 2014 This may seem like a funny question but this is a frustrating issue. I've tried X-Acto knife, sharp knives, filet knives, box cutters, bending back and forth. All sharp and usually it doesn't end well. It's hard to get a nice, clean, trimmed tackle box divider. How do you cleanly trim tackle box compartment dividers? Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 20, 2014 Super User Posted August 20, 2014 Do it more carefully, when trying to make a perfect clean cut you are in no rush. One of the good things of being obsessive compulsive is that, everything you do has to be perfect. Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted August 20, 2014 Super User Posted August 20, 2014 Nail clippers work for me. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted August 20, 2014 Super User Posted August 20, 2014 You must have some dull cutting tools. A razor knife works just fine. Quote
Will Wetline Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Scissors, then if you must, a brand new X-acto #11 blade until that divider is perfect. (I understand this compulsion, brother.) Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted August 21, 2014 Super User Posted August 21, 2014 X-acto knife, nail clippers Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted August 21, 2014 Super User Posted August 21, 2014 i am assuming it is the plastic ones? I have had success heating up a thin putty knife and basically pressing it right through then sanding down the edges. After that though and realizing it took way to much time i just used a sharp razor knife. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted August 21, 2014 Super User Posted August 21, 2014 A very sharp knife. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted August 21, 2014 Super User Posted August 21, 2014 I've always just used scissors... Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted August 21, 2014 Super User Posted August 21, 2014 How do you cleanly trim tackle box compartment dividers? I don't. But then, I don't suffer from OCD much and never realized I was supposed to care. They jam in just fine even with a little sloppy tag left. Quote
jtharris3 Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 I use my good ole trusty, very sharp pocket knife. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted August 22, 2014 Super User Posted August 22, 2014 Hey guys, this is August i.e. FISHING SEASON!! Isn't this more of a January or February topic? Just saying . .. ... 2 Quote
Shockwave Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 I also use a dremel. Makes quick work of a plastic divider while still allowing for precision. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 22, 2014 Super User Posted August 22, 2014 Scissors and glue the sections where I keep various different types of sinkers. The other dividers stay in place with the need to glue. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Glad I'm a slob and they just get ripped apart and stuffed in where I want them. LOL A better question might be "what do you do with all the spare left over dividers?" I always seem to have dozens left over and it seems a waste to just bin them. Is that my own version of OCD? Quote
Dillo Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Ive had the same problem. Just use scissors and do it slowly and carefully Quote
hatrix Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 A utility knife. I will also only cut the end ones off so I dont have to trim both sides. Quote
