My father just got his first bass boat and it allows me to carry more setups and I'm itching to expand my arsenal.

Currently I have 3 baitcasters

A. 7'3" xfast H 1.5 oz

B. 7' fast MH for up to 1.25 oz

C. 7' modfast M for 5/8 oz.

I'm thinking a spinning rod is up next. I've had some success with shakey on BC and it is effective with WV bass. I was thinking a 6'10" rod with xfast action for 1/8 oz and up as my smallest shakey is 1/8oz. I like the new daiwa s rods but they have either 6'6" or 7' and rated for 1/4oz. I doubt it would overpower the 1/8 oz but I'm not sure.

Also I'm considering another H rod. Daiwa s has a 7'4" H rated for 2 oz (should handle 1.5oz black dog g2 better than my current heavy) and it has a fast action which will help play fish. I've also read where people punch a lot with fast action instead of xfast. Last weekend I was punching and ripped bait out of 4 fish mouth before hook up with xfast rod not sure if it was my technique or the rod. If I go this route my current H would make perfect frog rod.

Thoughts and comments are appreciated. Brand/model recommendation (under $150) is also welcome.

I think a 6'6" med fast action spinning rod would be perfect. You need to not be quick on the hook set. Timing is the key. I like a second shorter 6' med spinning outfit for smaller lighter baits.

Someday s I find myself too quick on the trigger too.

Okuma makes a 7'3" HF rod in their Scott Martin series that you should consider. I bought it to throw 1.5 ish oz. Swimbaits and it seems like it'll work well. However right now it's on frog duty and it feels very good for that too.

My C. Rod is actually okuma tcs.

I'm just worried that the H would be underpowered because the MH fishes like a medium. I do already have it on Amazon wishlist though. I also really like daiwa products and wanted to try to consolidate my gear to Daiwa.
