JamesO Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I found this really nice looking pond a few days ago loooots of coverage from down trees almost all the way around, it's less then a mile from a river and that makes me think i could just be a pond formed from passed floods. I only tried fishing in it only once for a few minutes so far because i was with my friend who had to leave, I heard a couple splashes but that could have also been frogs, ducks, or something like that. It looks incredible, but is there an easy way to know if there are actually any fish in it or not? Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I would say yes, they are there... But the only way to find out is to fish it for a few hours. Even if you catch nothing, your observations while there will tell you more than we could. Quote

BadBassWV Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Throw some small pieces of Bread in the water to see if Bluegills come up to eat. If there are bluegills 9 times out of 10 There should be bass. Quote
ClackerBuzz Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 the only way to truly know is to ask a fish genie ps I hope you catch a lunker at ur new spot Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted August 17, 2014 Super User Posted August 17, 2014 Try night crawlers (livebait) first, to see if there is anything. 1 Quote

FirstnameLastname Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Throw a tiny hook with a tiny worm. Ponds are most likely to have panfish which love this set up. Quote
