Smallmouth Hunter Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 How is the fenwick ETS 6'9" ml power, fast action? Does it have a soft tip? How fast is it compared to St. croix's fast? Would you say that the blank is rated correctly, or is it overrated or underrated? What about the lure rating - is it accurate? How sensitive is it? Thanks for any help. Quote
tbone1993 Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I love the 69 mxf spinning rod and also the 6ft8 mxf jerkbait rod Quote
The one that got away Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I have that rod. I'd say it's accurately rated. Not as fast a St. Croix. Very sensitive but of course that's subjective. My other rods are more expensive but I can't find a reason to upgrade the Fenwick although I'm not a huge fan of split grips. I'd pull the trigger on one if you get the chance. Hope this helps. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted August 16, 2014 Super User Posted August 16, 2014 Probably a decent rod and the reason I own two of that very same model Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted August 16, 2014 Super User Posted August 16, 2014 I love mine, I have the medium power, extra fast action but one thing I can tell you is the rod rating is accurate as 1/4oz is the most I would throw on it and it is the reason I got the medium. The rod is super light if you haven't held it and the reel seat is fantastic but the sensitivity on them is incredible for the price, as far as comparing the action to a St. Croix, this will feel much lighter as St. Croix under rated their rods, a ML is more like every other company's medium so if you want something like that I'd say find a medium power. The ML is a true ML in this series, it is rated to 5/8oz and 1/4oz can be thrown comfortably but that is the most I'd go with, this rod is ideal for drop shots when using 1/8oz and 3/16oz weights, it is also good for small shaky heads and jigs with weightless plastics and split shot rigs. I was going to get this for hair jigs but I decided on an Aetos for that but if you found a deal on it I'd grab it. Quote
Smallmouth Hunter Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 Probably a decent rod and the reason I own two of that very same model how crisp is the blank on the 6'9 mlf? Others can chime in too Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I haven't fished one but the one's I've held felt good. Not as powerful as a St Croix but certainly not a noodle. The fit and finish were exceptional for a production rod. 2 Quote
