I fish everything on my Bass pro shop rod, flipping cover, casting a crank bait, and dragging a jig.but today I broke one of the guides, as bass pro will take it back for a new one.anyway I want to get a new rod that is good all around and is really tough. Tips?

7 foot, MH, fast action. Basically every rod manufacturer makes this rod, it's just a matter of what you want to spend.

Ugly Sticks are known for their toughness.  Personally I'd consider something else although I have read that the newer models are more sensitive.  Take a look at the Hurricane Redbone...or for less the Calico Jack.  Bought my first Redbone when in Florida on vacation this year.  Seems like a nice rod for the money.  A full time fisherman on here...who shall remain nameless...suggested these rods to me as a low cost, tough rod alternative.  I believe the Redbones are listed as saltwater rods.  I picked up a 7' ML that is rated for 3/8-3/4 oz.  To me that is the range for a MXF bass rod.  I was able to cast a 10" unweighted worm on a 3/0 hook with no problem.  Don't know yet how it will handle heavier weights as that worm stayed on the rod at all times.  :teeth:

I do believe I know who suggested the redbones and calico jack, a coincidence as I own 7 bones and 1 calico jack, all spinning.  They are SW rods but I use 2 of them for freshwater, my light action redbone is for pond fishing for the likes of bass and peacocks, the calico is a med and I use it for high banked canals and in vegetation.  The fish in my avatar was caught with a medium 7'6 redbone, backbone doesn't seem to be an issue.  About the only time I sway away from a redbone is to buy a rod with a wider lure parameter.

St. Croix Legend Tournament Bass get the 7'1" MH/F or the Legend Xtreme 7' MH/F. You'll be very pleased!

Get the ever so faithful Abu Veritas 7' M. It will also act like a MH due to it stiffness. I would also recommend the *** Black.

Theres only one rod I'd consider taking two of in exact configuration: my 7'6" flippin rod.. it does just about everything

As asked before, it comes down to what you want to spend.  for me a 6'6" to 7'0" MH Fast action rod is the best all purpose rod out there.  If you are looking for a specific suggestion, if I am fishing and only can only take one rod, if is a G Loomis GLX MBR 783C.  Really great multi-purpose rod.
