So I've been reading up on a few different articles about drop shotting, techniques, set-up, etc. and I think to myself why not put that drop shot weight to good use and replace it with a shakey head, two baits instead of one, one on the bottom, and one hovering, and you could come up with all kinds of bait and color combos for a unique presentation. Anyways, for a moment there, I was pretty satisfied with myself for coming up with such an original and unique idea, until I googled it and found that my idea wasn't that original. Haha So anyways, I'm going to try this out sometime for sure, wondering if any of you guys have by chance and if you had any luck with it.

Make sure the two hooks/lures your using require a similar hook set, because if you have a normal open drop shot hook and a shakey head below you will never know which one got struck and what type of hook set to do....

I use the dual set-up often. I catch the most with the shakey head.

A quality shakey head will have a sharp enough hook that it won't make any difference which lure they take.

It really depends, if you rig the Shakey head weedless but the actual drop shot worm is nose hooked or something then the shakey head will take more force than the dropshot hook to hook the fish...

Same with if you use a jig as the weight.

I've tried it, did exactly what I thought it would. I was losing baits twice as fast!

Been doing it for years -I use the pro model shak-e and a drop shot hook a foot above it-Catch two fish at once with it -I called it the UH-rig pronounced U -rig

So for you knuckle heads that are saying Why is he calling it that --Look at my last name -LOL Per Kelly Jordan

Been doing this with tubes as well.  I up my leader to 10lb from 8lb when I do this.  Hard to tell which one is getting bit.  If both happen to be bit then you need the stronger line to get them both in.  Learned that one from experience as I mentioned in a similar post.

That´s not new, and yes it works, the interesting thing here is that I catch some fish on the upper hook and some on the lower hook ( jig or shakey ) but have never caught on both at the same time.

Had one experience ... sigh ... I had a tube on the bottom and an open hook about 18 inches above.  Had one bite and began reeling and then another hit clearly.  Don't know which one was first but it was definitely two.  I reeled up and faintly saw one ... it dove down and SNAP.  Gone.  Never saw the second.  Lost both.

For the record that never happened again.  :(

I like putting a 1/4oz finesse football jig as the weight for my DS.

That also crossed my mind as well. I'm just wondering if I'm using a polymar knot at the drop shot hook, will that significantly decrease my line strength at the second bait, I typically use mono.

Ive had it happen numerous times-The gluttonous bass were trying to take the bait from the other bass and grabbed the next best thing-the other bait
