I'm new to bass resource!
The most recent post about bass fishing in the area of south Atlanta was in 2012 when I searched. I was curious if there were any members that have any news on local ponds, lakes and even rivers. I live in the Fayetteville and Fairburn area and do a good bit of fishing. Been fishing all my life but have just taken up bass fishing this past year and am enjoying it! Thank you all for all your post and a huge shoutout to Glenn because his videos have helped me out the most in my transition to bass fishing.

If anyone wants to fish ponds or lakes in and around south Atlanta, definitely let me know

I would love to trade stories and locations with members, I've fished from Lake Peachtree, Kedron, Horton, McIntosh in Fayette County to Sweetwater creek, Glen Emerald and Piedmont park in Atlanta to some hidden lakes in South Fulton and Clayton.

Anyone know of a couple of ponds in Fayette County? I bank fish 2-3 days a week and fish on a boat maybe 3 times a month

I'm always ready to do a little BASS fishing. I live in Senoia and have fished the places you named. I also fish the flint river, the Spalding county reservoirs, and other local places. Let me know next time your going out I will try and go with you, I am thinking of going tomorrow morning but have not really decided

Hey Guys,  quick unrelated question, but somewhat related question.  I live in South Florida but might be relocating to Atlanta at the end of the year.  My office is on the west side of what I believe to be 407 loop.  I was wondering what's the fishing like in Lake Allatoona/Lake Acworth, and how far is that from where my office ( I believe the office is right by the Cumberland Mall), are those lakes too far to do a daily commute.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

285 is what's known as the perimeter it basically circles the city and the inner metro cities. Cumberland mall sits off of 285 on the west end of 285. Alatoona is not that far at all really, about 30 min in normal traffic, at 4:00pm on Friday is another story. If you want to live near Alatoona check out woodstock, kenneswaw, and canton areas for houses. I live in Newnan south of the city and I am about 45min from West Point. Both Alatoona and westpoint have good fishing.

there are pros and cons to living in either side of the city, but ill never live north of Atlanta again. I hate traffic,

Thanks for the reply Matt!  I stand corrected, it is the 285 loop my office is located by.  A big part which is weighing into my decision to go or not, is if I can find a home on a large lake and make the daily commute into the office.  I don't mind having a 30-45 min commute everyday (I have a 50 min commute now which I've been doing for the past 15 years).  I started doing some research on homes in Acworth which are directly on the lake, any other large lakes in the area which are within commute distance?

Thanks a million!

I live in Marietta and actually work just south of the cumberland mall exit on 285... the drive is not terrible, but traffic can really make it horrible.  Basically aside from Allatoona, you could live like up near alpharetta area and fish lake lanier, but that drive to and from work could be as miserable as any in Atlanta....  One thing to note is allatoona is not putting up big bass and mostly only spotted bass.  evidently stripers are abundant in both allatoona and lanier, but i'm not going after those too hard.

either way good luck!

Dont forget river systems the hooch , etowah etc . Carters lake is nice , westpoint & weiss can be fun . Check out a lake in dallas of hwy 61 called the lilly pad . Over grown with lilly pads weeds and TONS of sunken wood . I strongly suggest a boat or kayak but you can drive around a big percentage of it for non boaters .I have caught some nice bass and only $ 5 a day 2 lakes conjoined by over flow dam and huge pond litterally 3ft to the right in one section.

What city limits are you in? Bank or boat? Clarence Duncan park had been nice from the bank. Early morning or late night, I don't think Ive thrown anything that didn't work except a spinner bait, but im still working on confidence on that. They are usually stacked up in a couple spots but nothing really of size.

Horton is always fun from a boat. A lot of bank access too. Beat the bank or use a depth finder and get on deep offshore structure or find the grass lines.

Lots of private ponds too if you can get the owner's permission.

Where do you guys like to fish?

Where on Mcintosh is pretty good? I heard that lake's development has been pretty good since Line Creek feeds into it.

I was out on kedron the other day and had a blast. Could not find anything really that they didn't like. The sizes in that were the usual pound or less but the ones that hit the jig on lay downs were all 2 lbs. Kedron is usually productive for good numbers but not size

I'm going to start fishing Fayetteville when I come back down from college for winter break.I was going to check the lakes out in peach tree also.If you hit Fayetteville road on the side where is runs into Tara blvd, there are a couple of ponds there. One lake there you have to pay,but it is well stocked from what I've been told and has been there for awhile. There is a place I know that hardly gets fishing pressure,it is the Mundys Mill pond which is between the high school and fire station.I fished the dam to see were there fish and caught some bream.I just couldn't fish the whole lake because it can only be accessed from one area on the bank and it's hard to get to.I wish I had a Jon boat so I could get out there and really see what's out there.Theres a bridge by this also that runs into the flint that can have its days also.I also would say hit the reservoirs out in lovejoy
