Super User clayton86 Posted August 12, 2014 Author Super User Posted August 12, 2014 I hope also. We just hired a veteran at work and he's been paired with me as I train him. 3 tours in Iraq plus a year as a contractor in Afghanistan. Been sharing a lot of story's been to a lot of the same places just different times. He has some sever PTSD but has said just working with me has been helping because we can relate. Quote

I used to work with a Marine, and he is still a good friend of mine, who did 3 tours in Iraq after 9/11. PTSD is a real serious problem among returning soldiers and is something he continues to battle with, almost 10 years he's been home . Thanks for sharing the video. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 13, 2014 Global Moderator Posted August 13, 2014 The way our vets are so often treated and neglected when they return home is a travesty. They give everything so many others don't have to, and then get betrayed by the powers that be when they need help the most. I can't get deep into how I feel about the situation without complaining about the way our government is handling things so I'll leave it at that. 1 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted September 10, 2014 Super User Posted September 10, 2014 A friend of mine is a few days out from getting out of the army. He has served for 24 years. He has been to every stink hole imaginable. I don't see how he will adapt to civilian life but he has so many job offers, it's nuts. His wife has been taking phone calls and scheduling appointments. He will end up as a police officer or a stationed government agent of some kind. With his retirement and benefits, he really doesn't even need a job. I know his case is rare. Most guys have that are out in a few years have a hard time finding a job of any kind. Quote
