Super User roadwarrior Posted August 11, 2014 Super User Posted August 11, 2014 This is my #1 topwater lure. My favorite color is Tonosama Frog: http://www.megabassusa.com/products/popmax 1 Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted August 11, 2014 Author Super User Posted August 11, 2014 Would you say its worth 20$ or should I wait and try to find a deal... Quote
Cgrinder Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 They come up used sometimes. Definitely worth $20 though. The attention to detail is ridiculous. Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 11, 2014 Super User Posted August 11, 2014 Would you say its worth 20$ or should I wait and try to find a deal... You will never find a "deal" when it comes to Megabass lures. Finding a "deal" could consist in finding a used one in e-bay or IchibanTackle, add the cost of shipping and voilá, it will cost you the same or even more than a new one. My favorites are Tonosama Frog, CMF ( cracked matte frog ) and Black Orochi. Quote
Super User tcbass Posted August 11, 2014 Super User Posted August 11, 2014 That's crazy for a lure. lol. Won't a regular popper or spook type bait work just as well? Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted August 11, 2014 Super User Posted August 11, 2014 I have a couple. As mentioned the detail is unmatched and they work. I also have a few River2Sea bubble pop's. It's a cheaper alternative and works just as well. It looks like the same blank almost but it's not. The line tie and around the mouth is different. The shape of the lure is very similar though. Super User iabass8 Posted August 11, 2014 Super User Posted August 11, 2014 Great popper. I still prefer the Yellow magic over the PopMax though. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted August 11, 2014 Super User Posted August 11, 2014 Great bait. I have yet to finds its equal. Well worth the money. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted August 11, 2014 Super User Posted August 11, 2014 I'm a Yellow Magic guy too but the Pop Max is a great bait. I have a few and I think they are worth the money. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted August 11, 2014 Super User Posted August 11, 2014 I think their quite reasonable in price really Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted August 12, 2014 Author Super User Posted August 12, 2014 I saw a guy on a video fishing one and the actioned looked really good so I decieded to look into buying them, didn't know they would be 20$. I'll probably still order a few though Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 I love them. And I don't mind spending that kind of money on a top water, less chance of getting hung on something. 1 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted August 12, 2014 Super User Posted August 12, 2014 The nice thing about topwater baits is you don't normally lose them. Be vigilant about your line and should be able to hang on to them for a long time. 1 Quote

Super User Catch and Grease Posted August 12, 2014 Author Super User Posted August 12, 2014 Chain pickerel here account for most of my lost baits. That's the main thing id be afraid of, I won't be throwing these in the back of banks lake where you can catch jacks more than bass some days ( but man there are huge bass back there ) Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 12, 2014 Global Moderator Posted August 12, 2014 LOL, don't have overhanging tree branches where you fish ? Nope, no trees in Kansas. Just don't snag a cow or let a tornado suck them up and you'll be fine. They're a good bait and like others said, the chances of losing a topwater are way less than a diving bait. Fish it on braid if you're really worried about it. Just don't bounce them off of anything, Megabass baits are notorious for being fragile. 1 Quote

You must not have toothy critters in your neck of the woods lol There are a couple of lakes i hate throwing my Vixen on...but i do it anyway lol Im gonna have to give the popmax a try before winter gets here Quote

I always forget that other people do. Quote

They gotta have LC, sebile, megabass, etc I think it comes from them seeing lots of big expensive swimbaits and spinner baits like the double cowgirl and such lol Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 LOL, don't have overhanging tree branches where you fish ? I learned long ago that it is easier to catch them in the water as opposed to the trees! Quote
