tntitans21399 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I have a 1978 115 HP Evinrude and I have the chance to get a 1984 150 HP Johnson for free or very cheap. I was curious on what percentage of the parts can be swap from the 150HP to the 115HP. The 150HP probably has bad cylinders but would the lower units match up and trim parts and other little things work? My engine is fine but if I could get a parts engine free or cheap its hard to pass up. I know some different models match up certain parts but wasn't sure about this. Any info would be great. Thank you. Quote
200racing Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 i would do some part # cross referencing. you might get lucky, but that is quite a gap of hp and years. http://www.boats.net/parts/search/BRP/JOHNSON/parts.html Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted August 14, 2014 Super User Posted August 14, 2014 I highly doubt that there are many that will. The 115 is a V4 and the 150 is a V6. Between that and the considerable year gap between the two, I kind of doubt much would swap. If the newer one was a 140 there would be some that you could swap out. Quote
