zildjian Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Hey, Does anyone recommend any butt casting seats? I'm thinking about picking one up for my bass tracker, but was having a hard time deciding as I'm shopping online. Hope to see from your recommendations as which to choose from. I've never used one prior and not sure about durability as to just looking at online photos. Thanks for any help, as I know you guys use them and would like to see what you recommend. -zildjan Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 10, 2014 Super User Posted August 10, 2014 I use one in the front of my Tracker and love it. Got it at Bass Pro Shop. Will have to look at the tag to see if I can figure out what kind it is, other than adjustable up and down. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted August 10, 2014 Super User Posted August 10, 2014 I have both a regular seat and a butt seat/leaning post. If I am fishing out of my boat, I prefer the butt seat. If I am fishing out of some one else's boat, I prefer fishing out of a sit down chair, mostly because when I'm driving my boat, I trust my balance, but when I'm in the back of the boat and some one else is driving, I'm just more comfortable sitting down. zildjian Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 yeah I'm looking for a good durable leaning/butt seat for the front of my tracker. I like the adjustable up and down as well. Are the posts all standard to fit as well? Quote

Super User slonezp Posted August 11, 2014 Super User Posted August 11, 2014 I have a Satin Finished Threaded Fixed Height Post Brand: Springfield Marine Company Diameter of post: 1" 3/4 Height of post: 13" It looks like you have their "thread-lock" series? If you wanted to stay with the same brand, it looks like you would need to switch to their "kingpin" series and replace the base as well. If you are not concerned about changing brands I'd recommend Swivl Eze brand Quote
Super User tcbass Posted August 12, 2014 Super User Posted August 12, 2014 Don't they make the threadlock series in adjustable heights? I thought they did. I did not like my swivel Eze I tried and went to a Springfield and am very happy. This is the seat I went with. I like it a lot. I can sit on it any way it is positioned vs. the kind where you sort of have to sit a certain way. It's also on sale for $39 vs. $54. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Bargain-Cave/New-This-Week/Boating-Fishing%7C/pc/105591780/c/105633180/sc/105638580/Cabelas-Signature-Series-Pro-Seats/737431.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fboating-fishing%2F_%2FN-1102644%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_105638580%3Fcatid%3D1%2BSQL%26WTz_l%3DSBC%253Bcat105591780%253Bcat105633180&WTz_l=SBC%3Bcat105591780%3Bcat105633180%3Bcat105638580 Quote
zildjian Posted August 16, 2014 Author Posted August 16, 2014 Thanks guys! Still undecided on what company seat to go with Quote
Nailbender8usmc Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I purchased my first one four years ago. Loved it, upgraded it two years ago and just this past weekend purchased another one for the rear deck. I personally can not or will not bass fish with out it, I can not sit down fishing unless we are out for crappie or perch. 1 Quote
Super User tcbass Posted August 25, 2014 Super User Posted August 25, 2014 This is the one I got from Cabelas. It usually goes on sale for $39. It's usually $54. I love it. Won't have a boat without this seat. I like it because I can sit on it no matter which way it is facing and it's comfortable being sat on any way. That would be a problem if you had one of the ones that had a V-shape to it. 1 Quote
zildjian Posted July 15, 2015 Author Posted July 15, 2015 so funny I'm now actually looking to purchase a butt/leaning seat and adjustable threaded posts and I totally forgot about my thread I created here. So I've been doing some research and I found the adjustable threaded posts that will fit my current bases. I'm just having trouble picking out a seat. I want something small and compact that I can lean on, I'm mostly not going to ever actually sit on it. As of now I never fish with any seats on deck, but I always find myself wanting or wishing I had something to lean on to make it easier on my back. So I'm finally going to pull the trigger on posts and seats. As for the posts I'm picking these guys out: Now as for seats, I need some help I really like this sear from Cabelas with the contoured curve on the back so I can lean/rest my back on. But I feel like it's pretty wide and bulky overall. Or do I go with a smaller more compact seat with no curve on the back? Any help with preference from you guys that have either or used both styles to help me choose would be great! Thanks! Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted July 15, 2015 Super User Posted July 15, 2015 I like the curve on the back much better. I use it more than the other side. I wouldn't have a different one without the curve! Jeff 2 Quote
zildjian Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 Thanks Jeff, which seat did you end up going with? Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted July 16, 2015 Super User Posted July 16, 2015 Thanks Jeff, which seat did you end up going with? Pretty sure it is this one. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Pro-Qualifier-Backstop-Pro-Butt-Seat/product/10205165/ But that Cabelas one for $40 looks nice! Jeff 1 Quote

Jeff X2 One thing to consider as well on it is how much room do you have up front? Ours is an older bass boat and not near as wide as the norm now. A bigger seat gets in the way some, especially when you have it, rods, TM pedal, electronics, etc... I rarely ever find myself actally sitting one one, usually more just leaning on it for stability. Thats why alot of folks prefer the curve. I myself am looking at flushmounting the foot pedal for the TM and having just the pedastal in the back if i need it for rough water days since the top mounted pedal is why i feel i need the seat the most. It puts me off balance to use it. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 16, 2015 Super User Posted July 16, 2015 I use the curved back seat as well. I rarely sit on the seat part. 1 Quote
zildjian Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 I have a 2011 Tracker Pro Team 190TX. I have a little bit of room up front, but I never fish with the seat because it just gets in the way. I find myself wishing I had a leaning pedestal post/seat to rest on, that's why I'm not all about bigger bulky seats, I'd rather have something more compact and not in the way. I want to do the flush mount for my troiling motor as well. I just purchased the Springfield Pedestal Mount from the post earlier. I now just need a seat! I've also been looking at these seats, again I don't think I'd hop on and actually sit. Iboats: Wise Blast-Off Tour Series Pro Casting Seat Or do I go with these G3 Seats? They look really compact and the front looks curved as well. Any thoughts? Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted July 16, 2015 Super User Posted July 16, 2015 These will be my next butt seats. https://www.bassboatseats.com/collections/bass-boat-seats/products/lean-pro-casting-sit-down-seats Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted July 16, 2015 Super User Posted July 16, 2015 Still like the Cabelas ones the best. If I ever replace, that will be my go to! Jeff 1 Quote
zildjian Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 thanks guys for all the help and input. I ended up purchasing the Cabelas casting/leaning seat with the curved back. Also purchased the Springfield: KingPin Series, Power-Rise Stand-Up Threaded Pedestal Post. I I appreciate the help guys! 1 Quote

joefish Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 I have that Cabela lean seat on a manual adjustable pole and I like it. Easy to swing around adjust pole and sit when I need to. 1 Quote
blongfishing Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I have one for the front of my boat. I normally don't keep it on but when it's on it's pretty much just something to lean on. It's good to have one at least. Quote
