pipho Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 What exactly is dipping tubes and how do you do it? Quote
Chris Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 You take a metal rod and dip the rod into a cup of hot plastic and each time you dip it let it cool for a second then dip it again. Each time you dip the rod the tube gets bigger as the plastic builds up. Quote
BucketmouthAngler13 Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 hmm.... i might give that a go.... What type of material should the rods be? metal? wood? any where i can get more information? Thanks Matt Quote
earthworm77 Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Pyrex container filled all the way to the rim. This should get you about 25 to 30 tubes. Granted you won't be able to dip once the plastic level gets under the size you want your tubes to be. Quote
BucketmouthAngler13 Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 would a cut off pop can work? that might be small, and you wont be able to microwave it to melt the plastic. it seems that Pryrex is the best thing to use for melting plastic, and it is cheap too. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I dont want to hijack the thread but what do you cut the tails with? Razor, scissors, etc Quote
pipho Posted October 16, 2006 Author Posted October 16, 2006 I just went outside heated the plastic in a pyrex then poured it in a cut off pop can and worked pretty well. I used scissors to cut the tail. Quote
earthworm77 Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 What do you do when the plastic has to be rre heated from the soda can? With the Pyrex, you can just pop that into the microwave and and dip from it when you are done. Save some steps and simplify. Quote
