sk8ter107 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 When, where, and how do I fish a lizard? Friend found some buy 1 get 1 free packs and gave me the free ones but I have never fished them before. Any tips please? Quote
ThatZX14Fella Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 I fish them just like my T-rigged worms. Then again I've only used them twice and don't believe I caught anything. Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 9, 2014 Super User Posted August 9, 2014 Anywhere, anytime almost any rigging method, just rig them with wide gap hooks. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted August 9, 2014 Super User Posted August 9, 2014 Very versatile. Carolina rig, finesse carolina rig, texas rigged with a sliding sinker, texas rigged pegged, even with no weight too. Works well for bedding bass and in the summer too when you want a big bait in deeper water or thick cover. Zoom is still king when it comes to offering a variety of sizes in tons of colors, and the action is good. The rage lizard though is amazing in it's action, but sometimes it's too much and they want the more subtle zoom. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted August 9, 2014 Super User Posted August 9, 2014 I really only Texas rig them for bedding bass, but I'll throw them on a C-rig alot Quote
doyle8218 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 One of my favorite baits on a Jika Rig. Lizards are abundant here in Miami. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 9, 2014 Super User Posted August 9, 2014 Anywhere, anytime almost any rigging method, just rig them with wide gap hooks. Always a soft plastic option. The advantages are a different profile and action. Quote
Arv Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Like others have already said, i TX rig them. I don't c rig much but they're also an option there. I really fish them like I would a worm on either application. 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 9, 2014 Super User Posted August 9, 2014 Give the Jika Rig a try: https://www.google.com/search?q=jika+rig&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=SlHmU6jBBrKN8QHE6ICoBw&sqi=2&ved=0CBwQsAQ&biw=1536&bih=884#facrc=0%3Bhow%20to%20make%20a%20jika%20rig&imgdii=_&imgrc=_ Quote
Super User FishTank Posted August 9, 2014 Super User Posted August 9, 2014 Pretty much any where, any time. I Texas rig them with a 1/4 oz bullet weight and slow/pause retrieve. I prefer the Zoom Lizards in any dark color but the bright colors work well in clear water in spring time. I have tried other brands. Some work well while other have gotten me skunked. For instance, I have tried Gambler and they work pretty well. No luck with Strike King Rage Tail Lizards or GYCB Lizards but I like both of their worms. One I like but have not given it a fair chance yet, is from Trigger. I like their colors and quality and they do catch fish. In general lizards are one of my favorite soft plastics to fish. Quote
BadBassWV Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Drop shot a lizard is what I do most with them anymore. Quote
Jtrout Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Just started using them the other day a I used a zoom and a yum lizard texas rig 1/4 inch bullet and caught one bass on each I used green pumpkin with black flake and green with green and purple flake just bounced them around and slow dragged them. PersicoTrotaVA Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 I like rigging them weedless with no weight and dropping them over a pile of rocks or rip rap to mimic salamanders. I also drag them t-rigged through beds during the spawn. Quote
