Super User Dwight Hottle Posted August 12, 2014 Super User Posted August 12, 2014 I was fishing a pond in south GA using a spinnerbait in the afternoon. I hooked a fish slow rolling the spinner on the bottom. When I got the fish up near the bank I saw my spinnerbait a foot away from my rod tip but no bass. I started backing up until I saw the fish & slid it up the bank. A friend had broken off a fish that morning on a jig & biffle bug. There was about 4-5 feet of loose braid that caught around the clevis that the blade was spinning on. The jig & bug were in the bass mouth hooked up solid. I was flabbergasted. I caught a 6lber without hooking her. 2 Quote

VAHunter Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 My buddy and I were catfishing a few years back with live crawdads. We decided to use the gas motor to move slowly to a new spot up the river. I left my crawdad on the surface of the water as I used the gas motor to move. My buddy watched a 2 lb. smallmouth come up for my crawdad, but the fish missed it. I heard the commotion and turned around at the exact time the fish went over my head and landed in the middle of the boat. I didn't know what happened until I turned back to my friend, saw the fish and my friend told me what happend. BTW, we let that fish go. Another time I was flipping a t-rig worm along the bank. I felt a very solid thump and set the hook. I quickly landed a 3 lb. largemouth. After I lipped the fish I noticed my hook was not even near the mouth. I followed the line and determined that I had lassoed that fish, I never put a hook in it. The line had become lodged under the gills, preventing it from slipping. My son was witness to that particular "catch." Quote
Kevin Beachy Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Was catfishing one time..... Thought i had caught something huge but low and behold, i had lassoed a 30in cat right in the middle. I had to pull it sideways throught the water and it felt like it was huge! Quote
cfruncek Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Sight fishing in my kayak for smallies earlier this summer in northern Wisconsin. I spotted what ended up being a 5# bass and casted my popper just past it and it inhaled the lure before I could even pop it once. After a good long fight it managed to wrap the line around as well as bury one of the trebles into a reed. The water was too deep for me to lean over and try to free the fish so i uprooted the reed and pulled the fish out with it Quote
