It seems that the only 2 baits I need to catch bass lately are wacky senkos for open water and light cover, and hollow frogs for the thicker stuff. I'm at a point where I can just use these 2 and throw a bait anywhere where I am fishing. Deep water? Add a split shot to the wacky rig. Hard to reach spot? Skip it! I'm going to use just these 2 baits this weekend, and nothing else. For the rest of you, if you were going to use 2 baits exclusively, what would you use?

Hmmm, I'm gonna be one of "those" people and say I would never restrict myself too two lure buuuut for the sake of the question...

I would probably take a rage craw because it can be used for so many different rigs, and a squarebill...

Rage craws can be trigged, C-rigged, punched, used as a buzz bait, Shakey head rigged, such a versatile lure...

I would go with a hollow body frog and a KVD 1.5 squarebill crank bait.

2014 has been about two lures

Just because I'm on a musky kick right now, Deps 250 and a Huddleston 8"

If we're talking bass, jig and a Mattlures Hardgill.

I will also go with a rage craw.  It truly is so versatile!  I think I'd pick a Spro Bronzeye frog for my second choice since many of the lake around here are so overrun with weeds now.

I would never restrict myself, but if I had to take 2...this is what I would take this year:

1. 3/8 oz White/CHT Double Willow SB

2. Havoc Bottom Hopper in Blue

This is what has been killing it for 2014.

In 2013 it was

1. Super Fluke - Pearl White

2. 3/8 oz White/CHT Double Willow SB

For me this one is very easy.  A Keitech EZ Shiner and a Senko.  I can cover the water from top to bottom and from slow to fast.

#1)  4.8" Keitech S.I. Fat:  I've caught fish from surface to 30 feet with it.  Weightless on top like a toad or just under the sparce pads, Swimbait hook in the weeds, Biffle in the rocks, Carolina Rig, and flipped it.

#2)  Senko or Fat Ika would be the other, basically whatever bag I grab first.  Both similar baits as far as technique/situation.

I float small rivers for smallies during the summer and seldom use more than 3 baits. A 4 inch senko, a top water popper, and a #4 plain Mepps.

A 2" power minnow and a small rapala. If I'm only gonna have 2 lures, I'm gonna have fun with it.

Imagine you can fish the rest of your life with only 2 baits ............ just the thought of it makes me sick.

A wacky worm and a top water

75% of my fishing is done in the Atchafalaya Basin/Lake Verret area in south Louisiana. If I'm limited to two lures, these are my picks

1/2 oz. jig - Black/Blue/Orange Skirt - flippin'blue trailer

1/2 oz. single spin spinnerbait (#4.5 gold Hildebrandt blade) - green/chartreuse/white skirt - 4" grub trailer in silk chartreuse

You may find this interesting since we fish the same lake.

Yesterday I went out with just a Blue Fleck KVD Finesse Worm and a Shell White LC Gunfish.

Posted

1. T-rig 7 1/2" ribbontail worm - Tequila  Sunrise

2. 1/2 oz. Strike King Red Eye Shad - chrome/blue back.

For me this year it would be a rage craw and a 7" rage anaconda worm. Candy craw and double header colors for both.
