First, I got one of those 1/8 Z-Man Chatterbaits about a month ago and I have not a clue how to retrieve it. Do I just pop it and reel?

Second, is fishing shakey heads in a current a dumb thing to do?

Third, I just purchased a 6'6 Sojourn Medium Fast Action Rod and I have a Quantum Reel with a 5:2:1 ratio -- what lures would that be best with?

Thank ya'll!

1) work it like a spinnerbait if fish are active ( cast and reel) or like a jig if they are slow

2) no

3) any lure

I was just asking about the shakey head because I checked my hook and it was laying completely on it's side. I used the spot stalkers but I also have the mega strike ones and didn't use 'em cause it's really rocky.

If I bring in the chatterbait like a spinnerbait, It comes to the surface and rides the top.

Shaky heads work great in current. To keep the buzzbaits down, point your rod tip towards the water.

Mega strikes are much better use them.

Let it sink and hold your rod tip down

Chatterbait I retrieve like a spinnerbait. I point the rod down, reel two or three turns, then pop it twice. I do that the whole retrieve.

Nowhere is written that a shakeyhead rigged bait should stand up.

I'm not going to say I invented shakeyheading, for me is just a way to rig a bait weedless on a jighead and a shakeyhead is just a jighead with an oversized hook, I've been pouring my own shakey jigheads for more than a couple of decades and have caught literally thousands of fish with them, so, apparently fish don't care if the bait stands up.

if you are having issue with the 1/8oz chatterbait....try moving up to a 1/2 ZMAN Elite.......don't be afraid of the larger size, it will catch fish

Thank ya'll for the answers.

I've realized that wherever I go, I can only catch fish on senko's...I don't get it.

Really doesn't matter with what you are catching as long as you are catching, my friend Rigoberto can't catch even a cold with any T-rigged bait.
