Assuming same rules as past months.  clear pic of fish head to tail on clear marked ruler.   lets see some big August fish.

Starting this for Jitterbug and he in charge as this is his fantastic idea.  Sounds like he is having some computer problems and is wicked busy also.   Top 5 fish with total length.    lets see some culling ,  who is going to dethrone Mainebass with his beautiful VT fish

Ok I'll start it off then.. Maine, I did throw the jig as you instructed and caught an 8" bass today lol.. my jig was 5"+

Ok maybe I need to work on my jig skills but I went back to my bread and butter spinnerbaits, plastics, and frogs later on and started to land decent fish.

Biggest is this 20" 4.5lb I will enter for this month.  Caught some big ones the other day on my canoe but I just cant take pics on my boat I am by myself.. so its bank fishing pics til I figure out how to take measured canoe pics.

20" fish was caught on a worm thrown to where I had just had a frog blowup.. doesnt always work but works alot more than people think!

einscodek  -- This is a 1x6 with a yard stick (3 bucks total) --  for Bass around here 24 inch long is probably all you need.   I have a couple pickerel over 27 inch and i typically will measure them so this one is longer.    I also have a 36 incher for Pike fishing.

you could also use a 1x4 to make it a little smaller.     I now use different color lines at the 1/2 inch marks to make it easier.

I am in.  Hooked into this 20 inch LM from a kayak and drug me about 20 yards right into a rock had to hold the rod in one hand up high and use the other hand to push down about a 6 foot rock. thought for sure i was going to lose him

My problem is lining the fish up whilst Im in the boat with very little room and then trying to get the right camera angle on it.. I think I need one of these with a 90 degree edge board like the one I see Maine uses that'll make things easier to measure in a boat..

Going back to Maine this afternoon for at least 2 full days of fishing maybe 3. Hopefully the fishing is good.

Was able to get out fishing this afternoon for a few hours. I got to the lake at about noon. It was mostly sunny with calm wind. The water was up a bit from the recent rain. The bite was pretty good. My first fish of the day was a good one. A 21.5 inch 5 lb 4 oz largemouth on a 1/2 oz jig with a rage craw trailer.

Here is a picture of the kind of places I like to fish. It is also where I caught the 5-4.

Fishing was consistent for the entire day. I was getting them on jigs, worms, buzzbaits and towards the end of the day frogs. I love a frog bite. So much fun watching them explode on it. I went into a small cove with a lot of thick lilies to take a bathroom break. I decided to take a cast with my frog just for the heck of it. My frog hit the water an I popped it twice. A big fish exploded on it.  The fish missed sending my frog airborne a foot or so above the water. As soon as it hit the water the fish exploded again. I set the hook and the fight was one. It went completely airborne twice as I fought it to the net. It weighed in at 5 lbs 10 oz, one of the bigger fish I have caught on a frog. It was just shy of 21.75 inches.

The frog bite was on fire. In the next couple hours before dark a 4-8, 4-2, 3-14, 3-2, 3-0 largemouth fell to the frog.  A 3 lb 4 oz smallmouth also took the frog under in 6 feet of water and weeds.

It was an amazing afternoon of fishing. Landed 21 largemouth and 4 smallmouth. Hopefully they will be as cooperative tomorrow when I bring my friend Chris with me.
