Five - California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas & Florida.  The last 3 were all from shore on small lakes, yet produced fish over 4 lbs.  Arizona was the real surprise because the lake was part of their urban fishing program, meaning I had to dodge a homeless guy sleeping & a cheating couple making out on the bench in order to reach the water.

Caught some trout in Breckinridge Colorado, but was told there were no bass in those upper elevation ponds & streams.  Almost made some trout aficionado choke when I recommended stocking some smallmouth in his private trout stream.  I told him that won't eat too many of his 8" rainbows...

For me, I've caught largemouth in Ca and AZ. Caught smallmouth in Washington state. And trout in Oregon and all the other states I've mentioned.  I want to catch a bass in all 50 states, but that may take a while :eyebrows:

Just three: Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee. I flew out to California a few years back and hoofed it around Lake Isabella for 4 days each morning carrying all my gear and got completely skunked. I ended up heading up to the river that fed the lake and caught some trout on salmon eggs.

Virginia, New York, Texas, Pennsylvania for sure.

Pretty sure, but before my "real bassing days":

States along the Gulf Coast...I think Louisiana,

Mississippi... but not 100% sure.
