starcraft1 Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Got up this morning(3:30 A.M. my normal time) to a strange noise, RAIN! Looks as if we're going to get a couple of inches? One can only hope! Lake oroville is down to one out of the 4 ramps and there's talk of it being closed in a couple of weeks! Salmon are'nt coming up river due to the lack of water coming out of the lakes (Oroville & Shasta), both lakes are down 100 ft. plus, Oroville almost 200 ft. The Sacramento river has algee growing in the creeks feeding it due to lack of in coming water and warm to almost hot water just setting in them. Normaly this time of yr. it's time to get out the "mini-skeeter" (a 14' alum. I built into a bass boat) and hit the small creeks and sloughs for smallies and northern strain LG. Not this yr.! COME-ON RAIN!!!!! Quote
FrogTosser88 Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I caught 6 fish last night between 5-8pm in the stockton delta... topwater was on fire due to the heavy cloud cover... had a ton of hits on buzzbaits and poppers Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted August 5, 2014 Super User Posted August 5, 2014 We got over an inch out here in Colorado yesterday and it's even drier here usually. More on the way. Quote
Fisher-O-men Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Got 1.5 inches in San Diego! That is close ot 10% of our yearly total. C'mon El Nino!!! 1 Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted August 6, 2014 Super User Posted August 6, 2014 Glad your getting some of that wet stuff....very glad. Please post if lakes come up....would be curious if ground just soaks up most of it. Quote
OroBass Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Here in oroville we might have gotten an inch. Probably less. The lake isn't filling up anytime soon. They are shutting down all the boatramps. Quote
Super User WRB Posted August 6, 2014 Super User Posted August 6, 2014 Monsoonal thunder storms do more damage than good because of the flash flooding created by a down pour on dry ground. If the El Niño develops, which the "experts" claim it has now disappeared, then normal rain fall from pacific storms will be beneficial that start off light and continue for several days none stop. Pray for rain! Tom Quote
starcraft1 Posted August 7, 2014 Author Posted August 7, 2014 It rained, drizzled, sprinkled, & misted all day enough to make the ground wet and muddy in a few spots. I found one and almost went head over tail for about a foot and a half! Good slide, he he Quote
