Tyler j Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Hey guys, hope you are doing good. I have some questions about these tracker grizzlys. The 17 or 18 ft model. I'm looking for a deer hunting boat, putting in brush boat, & bass boat. Is the floor of this boat sprayed in bed liner or is it just straight aluminum? Does the boat have much storage, I don't need much just some for a little tackle and rain gear/ life jackets. Is it trolling motor ready? How does it handle in rough water? When I get it I want to install recessed trolling motor pedal, lowrance HDS and a hot foot . Thanks for the input guys, Quote
CJV Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Friend just bought a brand new 1860 let me tell you they are very nice in terms of value for your dollar. The floor is a rhino lined material however I would recommend carpet to dampen the noise. They are bow mount trolling motor ready all you have to do is run your 8 gauge and install a plug and your good to go. We ran his 1860 with a 75HP mercury on the Potomac several times and I would say it does OK in big water for an aluminum boat once you get waves over a foot or two you will get the snot beat out of you. Do you plan on getting one with a console already installed or are you making one? Also the whole area under the deck is storage so you have a lot of storage and a recessed pedal would be no problem. Let me know if you have any other questions Quote

Seems like any of the 17/18' models suit you're needs & then some. Quote
Tyler j Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 I was planning on getting the one with the console attached & adding the hot foot for safety. Quote
Bassin Bob Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I had a Grizzly years ago. It was great in skinny water but it flat out beat me to death in open water with any type of wave action. The flat bottom is not conducive to a smooth ride when you encounter waves. The boat is indestructible but not designed for people with bad backs. I sold mine and bought a fiberglass boat that is much more comfortable. Quote
