There is an elite series Tournement on the Deleware river this weekend. This is big for us northern guys we usually only get to see these guys on TV. Last week my buddy was pulling out and Skeet Reese was next to him. We have seen some of the pros throughout the summer all over the river. My question is should I put the boat in the water and follow some of these guys or should I go to Penns Landing in Phila. Where the weigh in is? One of my buddies is going to be a Marshall for them. We are all pulling for Iaconelli the local favorite. You have to know how to fish the tide in this river but there are some big bass in there going by northern standards. Our wives are thinking we are a little crazy with us being so excited about this event.

Anyone want to make a guess at the weight needed to win this event?

3 day event; my uneducated guess is 24 lbs.....not for the day but to win the event!

24lbs for all 3 days?!?!? Top 5 should be weighing in 15-18lbd each day. Possible to top 20lbs for a few that know the patterns and tides.

^19-20lb with the average bag running 13-15lb. Of course I could be wrong living here my whole life and fishing the river almost daily I'd be shocked at anything over 20lb.

& I mean daily. 3 days I'd say 50lb top closer to 45.

We followed some guys at the Classic on Grand and it was a blast. Just use your head and stay back away from those guys that are trying to make their living. We took binoculars and watched them that way. If you want to get up close with them you would be better off waiting at the weigh in. I got to talk to a lot of guys at Table Rock this spring after the weigh ins.

It's really cool to meet all those guys and talk to them,I go to all the flw and B.A.S.S tournaments on beaver and table rock here every year and take lures with me to have my favorite pros autograph,Always just waited for them to come weigh in to talk and get some tips from them at the expos, Now I have a boat so I'll be following some of my favorites next time lol, Hope you have fun man its a blast!

Time to eat some crow...

4 day tournament would have estimated 32 lbs ( 8 lbs a day) to win this event. The top 12 did better and may average 10 lbs a day. This was still a tough venue for half the field as rivers in the summer can be. It looks like Ike will win this event and hope he does as he deserves the win.

Ike took the win with 47-14 over 4 days.  He beat 2nd place by 8 lbs. Ike is the only guy to catch a limit all 4 days.   12th place had 30-9 over 4 days.   2 guys weighed in 0 fish over the course of the tournament.  It was a tough one but not nearly the toughest they've ever fished.

I was a marshal too. Got to spend a day with Tim Horton and another with Ish. An incredible experience.

I was watching on basstrax today and the one dude was fishing right near where my dad and I launch....pretty cool stuff. I like seeing tourneys where guys have to work to get a limit let alone win.

I agree, they shouldn't all take 75-100 lbs to win.
