Squirmin Wormin Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I've caught my best bass off a black and yellow skirt single blade spinner bait , but am thinking my next pb bass is gonna be off some kinda plastics ,worms etc .. what's your thought's? Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted August 4, 2014 Super User Posted August 4, 2014 it's either gonna be one of these 4 baits, 10" floating Triple Trout, 10" Mattlures Dead Twitch, an 8" Huddleston or an 8" Savage Gear Floating Line Thru swimbait. Quote
kikstand454 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Good question. I believe my next PB bass will either be punching mats, or this winter throwing a jerkbait. Quote
notevenanibble Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 All my previous pb's were on plastics, so imma say plastics Quote
livetofish28 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Whatever lure a new personal best bass bites tight lines Andrew Quote
LunkerFisher Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Either a senko or a frog since I have been mainly throwing those, although I also throw jigs and chatterbaits to it's possible on those too. If I had to pick one, I am guessing it will be the senko, but I really hope it's the frog! Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Hopefully a frog, wouldn't that be nice. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 4, 2014 Global Moderator Posted August 4, 2014 If I beat my PB I'll be pushing the state record, that would be awesome. If it did happen, it would be on a swimbait or a jig would be my guess. Quote
FrogTosser88 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 How do you get your fish verified if its a record fish?... you call fish and game to come weigh it? Quote
CJV Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 My personal best of almost 8lbs was caught on a cavitron Buzzbait in the ghost minnow color. Quote
starcraft1 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Either one of my jigs or a 6" hud. The baby bass are about that big right now. Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted August 4, 2014 Super User Posted August 4, 2014 How do you get your fish verified if its a record fish?... you call fish and game to come weigh it? Well if you happen to have a fish you think is a record, most lakeside marina's have a certified scale. They also have the number to contact a state fisheries biologist. Since we both live in CA, well that might be a bit harder but trust me if we catch a State Record LM bass, well the world will know as it's gonna be close to a World Record and you catch it they will come. I would call the DFG and ask them if you can get a live person on the phone or ask a DFG officer the next time you see one checking licenses what to do. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted August 4, 2014 Super User Posted August 4, 2014 My next Smallmouth PB will undoubtedly come from Lake Erie on a Jerk Bait. And my PB Largemouth will probably not be bested unless I'm fortunate enough to get back here ~ And I hope it's on a Big Crank Bait . . . . . . A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted August 4, 2014 Super User Posted August 4, 2014 For me, I'd have to say it'll happen while flipping mats. Even though my PB came on a frog, I catch far more larger fish flipping. Quote
Weld's Largemouth Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 How do you verify a state record if you're fishing from shore and you don't want to kill the fish? Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 4, 2014 Super User Posted August 4, 2014 I´m not a fortune teller nor a prophet, my powers don´t reach that far. It´s interesting to read the replies, how shure people are. Let´s speak about something with a little bit more flesh, probabilities, the probabilities of you catching your PB are on the baits you fish the most, ok ?, my first 10 + lber was caught with a Rapala Original Floating Minnow size 7 in a pond, there´s some truth in the premise, I do fish consistenly with that bait and it´s sister size 9, My 13.86 lber was caught with a Rapala Shad Rap size 7 in Lake San Lorenzo, again, one of the baits I fish the most. I fish a lot with spinnerbaits so in theory I sould have picked something interesting along the years and .......... nope, I haven´t caught anything over 9 lbs with a spinnerbait. My second best fish, 13.5 lbs, was caught by a 5" senko, a bait that I seldomly use. How about BEEG FISH BAITS ! ? swimbaits, everybody swears for swimbaits, oh yeah, I´ll tie a swimbait and ketch my PB ! ......................uh, hmmmm, not for me pal ! swimbaits have been quite dissapointing in my quest for my PB, heck, I haven´t even caught a 10 lber with any of them, many 5 and 6, several 7 lber and slightly over 8 the biggest one, if I had placed bets on them I would have lost. The bait I consistently catch bigger than average fish is a !/2 oz jig with a Brush Hog as trailer, and even though I consistently catch larger than average fish with it I wouldn´t put my money on it for my next PB bait. ColdSVT Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 probably a jerkbait in the early spring or fall like my last one Deep down i want it on top water though...biggest top water for me came on a live target mouse. She was 6.2 and fiesty! Quote
Cgrinder Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I'm going to buy a 7" Slammer on Labor Day. Maybe that. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted August 4, 2014 Super User Posted August 4, 2014 I don't care what bait it is as long as I get a new PB. Chances are though it could be a jerk bait. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted August 4, 2014 Super User Posted August 4, 2014 Top waters over heavy cover, I'm getting better and better at presenting them and catching bigger and bigger bass! Quote
