I just purchased a g loomis nrx 852s jwr and will be putting a shimano Stradic ci4+ 2500 on it. I fished a lot growing up but have been away for a while just getting back into it big time but I know a lot has changed. Not really looking to use braided line was thinking 8#. Any particular brand or model line you can recommend??

Sounds like a sweet setup. Way to get back into fishing!

Well like everything in fishing it depends. I'm a spinning reel with 10lb braid and ten pound leader fan but that's out. Do you intend on casting any topwaters with the rod? If so I guess flouro is out.

My brand for mono on a spinning reel is sufix doesn't matter to much to me red or blue kind. 8 would be perfect on that stradic you could even get away with ten.

What ever line you choose just remember to spool the line in the same direction it comes off the spool.

I fish mostly weightless rubber/senkos was thinking 8-10# fluorocarbon to help sink faster and hear it has less stretch then mono

Fluoro does sink but personally i hate it on spinning reels. It has too much memory for me unless i use 6lb or less line. I personally like sunline supernatural in 10 lb as it has low memory and is very small diameter compared with other mono. A cheaper alternative if i cant get it on sale is trilene xl in 10 lb. Its a little bigger in diameter but also has very low memory so you dont get as many tangles. Ive also had good luck with silver thread and yo zuri hybrid but they are co poly lines and bigger in diameter than sunline.for the same lb test ratings. I fish for strilers and wipers a lot though and they pull a lot of drag so line diameter may not matter as much to you

Do yourself a favor and get 7lb or 8lb Sunline sniper FC it's a fluorocarbon line with great sensitivity and it's super manageable for a fluorocarbon based line. Combine that with a few squirts of KVD line and lure and your good to go. Goodluck

6 or 8 lb. Tatsu would be my choice. If that seems too pricey, go with InvisX.

I hated flouro until I tried Invizx, kept getting beat by others who used it so I gave it a try. Works out well, it still has some stretch but not terrible. Biggest advantage was the slack line bites, the density of the line transmits bites extremely well. I do use KVD Line and Lure which makes it way more manageable, very small thing to do for great benefit.
