Jack44 Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Hey guys, I'm looking to put an order into tackle warehouse and am pondering picking up some of these M-Pack jigs. My question is if any of you have used them. Does the new weed guard work as well as it's supposed to? Is it worth the $7 they're asking?I'm looking at the football jigs in 3/4 oz btw. Quote
Bank4Bass Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Honestly take a look at Seibert Outdoors jigs, it's a forum sponsor and all jigs are hand tied. He's basically giving them away at the price he sells his work for! Quote
BadBassWV Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Those things look sweet, I think the weed gaurd is a good idea IMO it should work fine......If you buy some let us know how they do. Quote
Jack44 Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 Ok I ordered a couple of these jigs and feel that I've used them enough to do a review on them. The m pack jigs are just like any other football head jig except they have a thick plastic tube that hooks on to the bend of the hook which is supposed to be more effective than the typical fiber guards http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=20qhq-_7QlQ This new weed guard was brought through brush, weeds, sticks, logs and rocks and I thought it performed very well. However if you want to change a trailer or adjust it you have to disengage the weed guard by taking it off the hook, which allows you to access your trailer. This can be annoying because it can take an extra 30 seconds or so. Another downside to this jig is that in order for you to put the weed guard on, you need this small rubber tube ,that comes with the jig, which fastens the weed guard to the hook. If you lose this small rubber tubing your weed guard is useless so it is very important to take care of it. There were multiple times that tubing slipped out of my fingers and onto either the boat or the water. Luckily it floats. I wish they would put more of these rubber tubes in your jig package in case you were to lose your only one which I'm sure will happen. Another con to this jig is the price. 6$!!! However it is made in the USA I believe which is always good. Probably the best thing I like about this jig is the skirt designs. Their skirts come in great colors and are better than any other jig I've used. The color I used mostly was the Bama Bug combined with a sapphire blue pit chunk. To conclude, I was happy with the performance of the new weed guard and I really like the jig colors but for $6 and having the possibility of losing the oh so precious rubber tubing I think I would look for other options. If they could put extra rubber tubes in the package I think I would reconsider but if you haven't tried one of these jigs I think it would be worth it to pick out one of their cool colors and test it out yourself Quote
