Super User tcbass Posted August 3, 2014 Super User Posted August 3, 2014 This comes down to what do you throw more often when using T-Rigs, C-Rigs, Rage Rigs, or anything in between: do you use long, slender baits (ie....Power worm, lizard) or thick, short baits such as creature baits and crawfish imitations (ie....Ragetail Bug/Rodent, Rage Craws). What percentage do you think the difference is? Quote
C0lt Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 to be honest I don't understand the way you grouped the baits into the two categories 1 Quote
Super User tcbass Posted August 3, 2014 Author Super User Posted August 3, 2014 to be honest I don't understand the way you grouped the baits into the two categories Worms and lizards are very similar in shape. Long and slender. Creature baits and crawfish imitations are the exact opposite, short and thick. Trying to get an idea of what type people use the most. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted August 3, 2014 Super User Posted August 3, 2014 I probably use creature/craws 5:1 over worms. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted August 3, 2014 Super User Posted August 3, 2014 I answered worm, but I use them both about equally. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted August 3, 2014 Super User Posted August 3, 2014 Chigger/ Rage craws... The last 2 or 3 years, But I am really using Zoom Fluke Stick, Finesse, and other worm types.. No lizards, ever.. TRiged/ Rage Rigged, or wacky/ drop shot...this year heavily as in years past. Quote
papajoe222 Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 For years the only soft plastic bait I used was a worm. Then I started throwing skirted jigs with plastic trailers. Now, more often than not, I rely heavily on T-rigged beavers and craw plastics. I still use jigs and worms, but most of the guys on the local lakes rely heavily on them, so the beavers and craws are something the fish don't see as often. Quote
The Fisher Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Depends on what they are hungry for. I echo the comments in that some creatures like a baby brush hog look quite similar to a worm. With that being said, worms are productive all year for me while larger creatures/crawfish like a chigger craw produce in the Spring and Fall. So probably 60% worms, 40% creatures/craws. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted August 3, 2014 Super User Posted August 3, 2014 I fish worms and lizards about 80% of the time when it comes to soft plastic. That combo just seems to work for me. Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted August 3, 2014 Super User Posted August 3, 2014 It usually depends on the lake I'm fishing or the particular spot on a lake I'm fishing. Usually worms around thicker weeds, and craws near wood cover. Creatures I throw into either one. Lately I've been using worms more, as I've found craws to be more productive earlier in the year. ColdSVT Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Creature/craw for me...or a jig. No that i think about it i havnt tied on a worm yet this yeae lol...might have to break out the anaconda and go deep this week Quote
ThatZX14Fella Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I've never thrown creature baits. I always throw a worm or lizard. Maybe I need to buy a bag of creature baits and see if I can do anything with them. Quote

I'm just getting into using worms/lizards, creature baits, and craw imitations and I've been using the SK Rodent. Perhaps I will have to look further into this worm/lizard thing. I'm surprised how many more people chose worms over everything else. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted August 3, 2014 Super User Posted August 3, 2014 I use the creatures probably 2 to 1 over worms. If you count senkos as worms I use both about equally. Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 If tubes count as creatures then I use creatures the most. Quote
OroBass Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I use worm style baits most often when c rigged or finesse fishing. I use creature baits more often for flipping n pitchen or for punching dense cover. Quote
tholmes Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I probably use worms and craw/creatures equally. If you throw lizards in the mix with worms, then that tips the scale toward worms/lizards. Tom Quote
The_fisherman Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Never had luck with creature, so worm. Quote
PersicoTrotaVA Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 For me its all of the above but I guess it would have to be worms though because I am always throwing a wacky rig. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted August 4, 2014 Super User Posted August 4, 2014 If I am fishing stretches of thick grass, reeds, cabbage, etc... I prefer a worm on a texas rig. I feel it slips in and out of the vegetation much better keeping my bait weedless longer and more presentable to a potential fish. Craws/creatures/jigs I like to use when the cover is more sparse, while fishing sand, rock, stumps, and flats. I catch plenty on both styles but probably only use the various plastic worms in the rotation less than 25% of the time. The use or a rage rig plastic or even a swim jig is a nice way to fish the middle portion of the water column just above various types of structure. Quote
