Ok, so we've had the best guitarist thread. How bout your favorite vocalists? As in the guitar thread, I think that our own personal genres play a roll in who we choose but there's gotta be a few who stand above the rest. And it's ok to have more than one. For me, in no particular order:

Steve Perry

Bruce Dickinson

Rob Halford

Sammy Hagar

Those guys are just sick. With an instrument for vocal cords.

And don't forget the women. For me there's only 2:

Pat Benatar and Martina McBride. What a couple of powerhouses!

And yours?

I do like Martina, esp on the old ballads. My favorite woman is a tough choice, but I think Emmylou Harris gets my vote. I love her voice, and she can sing a harmony line better than anyone.

Choosing a man is even tougher. From Hank Sr. to John Denver to Michael Crawford to Steven Tyler. My top choice today would be Luciano Pavarotti. What a powerful instrument.

I'm all in with Martina Mcbride. I also think the girl from flyleaf is a very unique singer.

Men: My vote is James Taylor. Also the guy from shinedown.

James Dewarr from the Robin Trower Trio.  And,  you can add Robin Trower to the list of great guitar players. Nobody made guitar faces like Robin...LOL

Stevie Nicks was a favorite back in the day. I was in love with her for years before I realized she could really sing...

Very difficult to say which one is "the best", there are so many good ones, nobody mentioned Freddie Mercury, to some Ronny James Dio is a great one however I don´t like him, Robert Halford is considered the God of Metal, nobody mentioned him. Pat Benatar is good but I love Joan Jett,

Oh, I got Halford alright! And, yes, Freddie should be on my list as well.

Freddie Mercury, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, Steve Perry, Robert Plant, Maynard James Kenan, Eddie Vedder (IMO there is only one person that sings w/more emotion than Vedder and that's Joe Cocker).

For the Ladies:  Whitney Houston could belt it out, Joan Jett, Ann Wilson, Stevie Nicks, Aretha (no last name needed)
