NorthernAnglers Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Well i was smallie fishing draging a tube , hooked into a pound smallie.. And released went back to cast and was reeling back in i notice it was suddly really hard to reel it in and i had just cleaned , oiled up te reel. Had something broke or maybe got something in it? Its only a year old And being a vacation right now at An awesome smallie fishiery make this a tough loss for the trip. Any ideas what i should do? Send it back to abu for warrenty or to be professionally cleaned? Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted July 31, 2014 Super User Posted July 31, 2014 Probably needs professionally cleaned, if you put oil on the gears. Don't think that would cause it to seize up though. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 They may or may not warranty it depending on how much you took apart. If you decide to send it in to me include your screen name and I'll apply a 10% member's discount off the labor. Mike Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted July 31, 2014 Super User Posted July 31, 2014 Buy a different brand, salvage you're trip, if possible , doesn't have to cost much... Get yourself a Plueger trion or president spinner, save your trip... Then decide on you're broken reel, later... Good luck...... Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 31, 2014 Super User Posted July 31, 2014 One minute it's fine and the next it isn't, doesn't sound like a cleaning issue. As suggested buy an inexpensive reel to enjoy the rest of your trip, then deal with the reel. Quote
Smallmouth Hunter Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 See if there is some line wrapped up under the spool. Quote
