bassinOUT89 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/11287082/cop-once-drew-gun-squirrel-hunting-qb-winston I really dislike this kid. FSU needs to step up and give him some kind of punishment. Even though this was before his big year I feel like what ever trouble he gets himself into, they just let it go. Especially with the sexual assault allegations. Any other university would have suspended him until the facts or lack thereof were found out. What are your thoughts fellas? Quote
tipptruck1 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Here is my problem with this stuff. Not a single thing came up in till he was a house hold name. This happens all the time in Hollywood and sports. People either hold a grunge against the person, or just want money. As for the rest of it. I can not answer with a honest answer. I only heard a few things about the rape stuff last winter. I can't even comment on that. As I only don't even know a 1/4 of that story. 1 Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Without any evidence and prosecution dropping charges there isn't allot the university can do. He innocent of any crimes you can't punish him for that. Most seem like minor offenses anyway except of course for the rape charge which...he was notProsecuted for. I imagine that if the university tried to punished him for something he wasn't prosecuted for they may open themSelves up for a lawsuit. Sounds more Like the police or lawyers need to Man up instead of the university. Quote

Super User Sam Posted August 1, 2014 Super User Posted August 1, 2014 Come on, guys. Like or hate him he is a very immature and talented football player who will end up in the NFL one day and make a lot of money. I sincerely hope he obtains his degree from FSU and that he invests his money wisely. As for his current antics, anyone on a football team such as FSU has to realize that he will always be under a microscope and everything he does or does not do will be made public. As with all males in his age range in college, they are apt to do some dumb things - some minor and some major. Only difference is that this is a very talented football player and everyone will be watching and reporting on his antics. I hope he cleans up his act and that the coaches take internal steps to stop him from being a future dumb***. Quote
Super User Marty Posted August 1, 2014 Super User Posted August 1, 2014 Sports teams, pro or otherwise, cut a lot more slack to first-stringers than bench warmers. I have a good friend who's an FSU alum and he's disgusted with the way the school has handled Winston. Quote
Super User Teal Posted August 2, 2014 Super User Posted August 2, 2014 Winston is very young, I don't expect anything different. We forget that these aare children... Not gonna change my opinion on the kid based on his actions when he was 18, and he wasn't really doing anything that most kids don't do all the time. Poor taste by the guy who let this story out Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted August 2, 2014 Super User Posted August 2, 2014 Sounds like a lot of the things i have read on here about kids growing up shooting each other with BB guns and shooting squirrels but now all of the sudden it is wrong? Kid is making stupid kid mistakes and will hopefully learn from them. Quote

Not gonna change my opinion on the kid based on his actions when he was 18, and he wasn't really doing anything that most kids don't do all the time. Poor taste by the guy who let this story out I'll take the opposing position. There are countless thousands of very young people, NCAA athletes or otherwise, who haven't put themselves in positions that Winston has. Eighteen is more than old enough to know right from wrong. Yes, many kids that age have done some things they regret but far more have their heads screwed on straight. Age doesn't excuse everything. Quote
