Crankbaits In The Firetiger Color

What does the firetiger color mimic. I see most all crankbiat makers and models have a firetiger color. Never seen anyone fishing one. Is this color maybe not a fav. of LMB fishers?

A perch. Firetiger works great in dirty water

Its actually a really good color and a lot of people like it including myself. The bright color allows it to be seen much better in murky water. As far as imitating another fish I would say its most like a blue gill or a baby bass. They essentially took colors from those species like green and yellow and made them much brighter. Sometimes a lure doesn't need to look exactly like a forage species to be productive. General rule of thumb is go with natural colors when the water is clear and bright colors when its murky.

One Theory: The three colors used - bright green, yellow and orange can be seen in deep water, off-colored water or low light conditions where there is diminished light penetration, these colors will be seen better.

 

And yes, pan fish and perch colors.

 

Who the H311 knows what it's supposed to look like or how it is seen under water, fish it, catch some fish on it, gain some confidence in that color, order a couple/three hundred more of them and keep the darn bait monkey off your back!

Just a bright "fish" color. Could be a bluegill, a perch, anything really. Its more of a reaction strike color, fish see the bright color and movement/rattles and hit it. Great in dirty water.

Perch is the best guess. It's like chartreuse with powder blue back. I've never seen a fish in my area that looks like that but it's a fish catcher.

It looks a lot like a  bright perch or sunfish. A go to in stained or murky water for me. Have even done well in clear water on it though.

Something to ponder. I asked this particular angler a question about color, you may know him as well, but his response was quite interesting and it was something that I never even thought of until he mentioned it:

Oh man, now I´m really screwed now that I find out that firetiger mimics perch, not a single bass will ever bite my firetiger colored baits never again cuz it mimics something they have never and will never see, I´ve caught undreds of them warm water bass where there ain´t no perch.

 

My man C&G really knows what he´s talking ´bout, he don´t know or care what it "mimics", it mimics food, simple, yet effective. Simplicity is perfection.

Around here, especially in the fall, the Rapala J-9 in Firetiger can be on fire.  I've never experienced that, but have caught bass on it in a pond that doesn't have perch (that I've seen or read about anyway)...but many of our lakes have them.

If you were under water and someone reeled a firetiger crank by you, you'd see a blur of green, stripes, and a flash of orangish red. That could be nearly any fish species.

What does chartreuse or bubblegum colors imitate? No idea, but I know they catch fish, same thing with firetiger. One of my favorite colors in dirty water but can also be surprisingly effective in clearer water too, just something they never see I'm sure.
