Super User tcbass Posted July 29, 2014 Super User Posted July 29, 2014 I fish in MN so that might be a factor in what I should use as a trailer. I believe I have a pack each of Zoom Super Chunks, Zoom Chunks, Strike King Rage Craws, Strike King Rage Chunk, Strike King Rage Bug, Strike King Rodent, Swim Senko, Senko Hula Grub, and Cabelas Twin Tale grug (their version of the Strike King Menace). Here are my Siebert Swim Jigs: I got: 2x Watermelon Black Flake head in Blue Gill skirt wire tied in 1/4oz. 2x Silver Black head in Bloody Shad skirt wire tied in 1/4oz. 1x Watermelon Black Flake head in Blue Gill skirt wire tied in 3/8oz. 1x Silver Black head in Bloody Shad skirt wire tied in 1/4oz. So, being in MN, with lakes that are clear and stained, what trailer should I use and what color? In order from best to least, what would you choose? Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted July 29, 2014 Super User Posted July 29, 2014 Of you're listed Trailers I pick cabelas twin- tail to start.... After that, maybe side rig that bug, I would get some good Hammer boot tails... I don't care for the swim senko, but it should work, other folks like them. Quote
RipzLipz Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Not to sound corny, but Doug Stange fishes up your way and swears by paddle tail soft plastic swimbaits as trailers in certain situations. Quote

RipzLipz Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 He uses the Berkley products mainly - the Hollow Belly and the Grass Pig (similar to the Swim Senko) for a more subtle vibration. If you're not a fan of Berkley, I'd find something that has a similar body shape with a paddle tail. Feel free to read user's reviews on different online tackle shops if you're not sure which may suit you. Quote
NathanW Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Swing Impact, KVD swim n shiner, Havoc beat shad are about all I use. Out of the bags you mentioned find a color aside from the chunks that match best and go with it. Quote
doyle8218 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I use: Lunker City Grubster Swimbait Keitech Swing Impact FAT Strike King Rage Bug Zoom 3" Swimmin Chunk Quote
mod479 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Try a green pumpkin rage chunk on the bluegill patterns....they look move a lot of water and produce a nice kick. Trim your skirt to where the arms come off the craws body and it wont interfere with the action. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I use the Rage Menace 99.9 % of the time anymore. 1 Quote

JeziHogg Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Menace rigged with the flappers vertically like a fishes tail, Kalin's Sizmic grub or Kalin's Lunker grub 5". Quote

Siebert Outdoors Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 For the jigs you got from me. Bluegill or smokey for the bloody shad and Green Pumpkin Sapphire for the Bluegill. Those match very well. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted July 29, 2014 Super User Posted July 29, 2014 Mr. Twister Split Double tail. Trim about 1/2" of the grub body off to make it more compact. Quote

But there things are huge at 4" inches. Do people normally shorten them up? Quote
