Three years ago yesrerday i fished my first tournament. It was a three day tourny on three different lakes. I did OK that weekend but learned a ton. Last year i finished in the upper half.

This year in the same tournament i found myself in 2nd place nine pounds out of the lead, after day two i was bitting on the heela only 1.4lbs out of the lead. Finally yesterday morning something happend. I was fishing a long riprap area ( Along with the a few other in the top five) and i caught a barely leagal smallie. As i was measuring it it puked up a crawfish. Thats when the light went off!

I switched everything to crawfish or similar on my deck except my crankbait rod lol.

An hour later i had a decent limit in the well and ar the end of the day i was the winner!

ColdSVT -- First off congrats!  Second off, kudos for having the wherewithal to change your presentation to match what the fish were telling you.  It's really hard to change up sometimes when you know you just caught a fish doing one thing, but the signs are saying to do something else.  Too often many of us, myself included, choke up and don't make the change since we JUST caught a keeper doing something else.

So as for the win, doesn't it feel great!  Congrats and hopefully that was just the first of many!

Congrats man! Must have been pretty exciting to finally nab a win, not to mention you made up some serious ground from 9lbs back - props sir, props.

I am in a similar situation currently - my second year fishing tournaments (finally started placing a couple times this year)...hoping I can win one next year!
