Here in New York, its suddenly been terrible!! The bass won't bite!!! I've tried literally ever lure in my tacklebox in front of this 4lber sitting on a log and all he did was stare at it. I caught a couple, but they were reaction strikes... Anyone catching? What are you using???

This month has been very tough for me as well. The bite has shut down this month it seems. I changed it up and went fishing from 12:30 am to 4:30 am this morning and finally caught some nice fish. If the bite continues like this, I might be only night-fishing until the bite picks up.

Night time & early morning are your best bet. It's really the only time I fish this time of the year. I don't like fishing slow but the few fish I've gotten during the day have come from soft plastics. I let it sit on the bottom for 30-40 seconds and wait for any line movement since they seam to be picking it up so lightly. It's not the most fun way of fishing but it usually gets me a couple..

Abnormally mild summer for us here, with an occasional few days of miserable humidity. Still getting lots of pop up storms. Bites are slow, but we're still catching plenty over 3 lbs.

I fish smaller, clear lakes and go later in the day (evening or night). I'll throw plastic worms up to 16" and jig and craw while it's still light out, then change to top water before and during dark. If they don't like that, I'll go back to the worm or jig but fish a bit shallower.

Also, if you can see the fish, it can see you. Try at night, and hold on tight.

Fishing has slowed down a bit for me numbers wise. Still catching a few big fish every now and then.  I have been having great luck right before dark and night fishing as well. The day time bite has been tough form 11-2. Catching them on jigs, rubber worms, buzzbaits, and frogs. In my opinion the fishing is still good. It is only going to get better as we get closer to fall.

One thing i have noticed is with the cooler temps and all the high dirty water there is not a lot a vegatation on my local lakes...that has hindered the catch rate imo...most of mt fish this year have come off timber and docks...very tight to and or up under them

The bite has definitely dropped way off here in CNY. I spoke with a couple of fellows on Otisco Lake and they told me the same thing. The darn recent weather patterns are not helping either. We just got about 2" of rain yesterday and the temp has dropped again from mid 80's to the 60's. Add that to the weed harvester that has been working the lake I am on it will be impossible to catch anything for weeks.

Most of the lakes around here have awful algae blooms with very little visibility.  The reservours are full to the brim first time in ten years and the fish are spread out.  All that being said, the Delaware river is finally starting to come down and clear up.  River fishing in the Delaware has been picking up and we have been catching big numbers of smallies on tubes and swimbaits.Yammies too. Size hasn't been anything special, but that has started to improve too.  I had two guys put 80+ smallmouth up to 17" in the boat a few days ago.  . A couple walleyes and a few stripers also around.  If you have a river in your area, try fishing it.

Hey Cheif- did you ever try Skaneatles?  I have done great there in July and I don't think it has an algae problem.

Spend a few hrs here and there before and after work but having a great July so far numbers-wise over 10 fish each outing easily but the size has dropped alil for me the last few outings with fish not eclipsing 18" but had some great battles with some bass so far.. been fun

oh .. plastics are whats producing for me and spinnerbaits second

I have had one of my best years ever here in Michigan...My 5 best so far was 18.1(Not a super sack but good) with sacks averaging 12 to 16

Also 3 weeks ago I caught the most big Pike in one day ever.. I had 3 over 40 3 Near 40 and several others near the 35 mark all on cranks as most of my bass as of the last 3 weeks....Before that since it has been a later year....cold...My fish have come mainly on a spinner bait with my best a 5/13.

So pretty good year here for me and I have not hit my best lakes yet cause I have been a staying close to home.

Champlain is on fire!  Watch the BASS open this weekend or look at last week's Rayovac weights, they're up!  I've only been out a few times this month and have done very well.

Have not tried Skaneatles yet. I was going to try Otisco this week, but the weather is bad. Went out yesterday after noon and picked up 3 nice bass and of course the usual pickerel.

I was having a great year up until July. The humidity and the continuous downpour have really shut down the bites for me. The fish I have been catching have been 15'-25' deep on Oneida Lake.

Weather here in Delaware has jumped around temperature wise pretty frequently - Fished a tourney two weeks ago and everyone was catching small fish. It has cooled off since then, I have a Tournament this Sunday, shall see how it goes - hopefully the bite is a bit better.

Here in Indiana it was tough unti about 3 weeks ago ....we got 1 bass over 6 (its a private lake that produces lots of big bas) and couldn't get anything over 4 pounds and we couldn't find any fish that looked like they had eggs and they were not where they have always spawned in the past. About 3 weeks ago we got some big fish (7.4) and we have found a number of big fish since and they are where the bass spawn at in the past and some looked full of eggs it's the weirdest thing...No weeds here was a bad winter and has been mild this summer....(had to treat weeds in the past)
