Has This Ever Happened To You?

so, i was fishing in some really dense grass and i got snagged on a rock. i tried to just yank it out, and then a decent bass took it and dislodged it from the rock and i got my crankbait back. 

 

has this happened to anyone else?

I've never had a bass get it while it was stuck but when I fish square bills bass get it as soon as you rip it out of a snag all the time!

Crankbaiting is a contact sport, if you are not knocking and many times, getting hung up then you are not putting your bait where the fish are. Real crankbaiting is not just reeling in your crank.

It happens on Oroville every once in a while with jigs. You really can't see it, but all of a sudden your line begains to move after you've hung it on a rock.

Happens pretty often on the rivers I fish for smallies.

I don't think I have ever had a pick when my crank was stopped and hung up. All the time bouncing off stuff.

I had a muskie hit a rat-l-trap like that one time.  I was hung in some grass about a foot under the surface and POW that muskie came out of nowhere.

This happened to be about 2 years ago on the Delaware River. It was a beautiful stripped bass!

Yes! happens a lot for walleye as well! I'll be hung on a rock and trying to pop it free then one of the times I pull it pulls back.

Yap.  Some of the reservoirs I fish have a lot of rock on the banks and easy to get snagged.  I would guess that if you are trying to get a bait unsnagged you are creating noise and motion in the water which will attract fish.

The fish in my avatar ate my crankbait off a rock while I was snagged. I was trying to pop it loose and then when I went to pop it once, it was moving towards deeper water   At 7.76lbs, it's the second biggest bass I've caught in Kansas.

Had this happen with crankbaits and plastics.

 

On the Pamunkey River in Virginia in July I had this occur two times, both with trick worms.

 

On Buggs Island back in June I had this occur and after she took the crank off a log she had the nerve to jump and spit it back at me.

 

How rude can you get?

It happen to my wife about 3 weeks ago but it was a 1/8 oz. jig head with a white grub. She threw it up on the rock to let slowly slide down the  rock when it got shagged about a foot down in the water. As I turned the boat to go and get it she was handing me the rod when we saw a 14 to 15 inch bass cruse up and pick up off the rocks so I handed  her back her rod so she could land the fish.

 

That was one of the cools things we have seen while fishing.
