Flanagantaxi Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 I'm new to fishing the lake and looking for any tips and advice. From what I can tell from the limited map information I can find and my few trips out on the water, it looks like the lake doesn't have much structure and cover except for boat docks and some shallow vegetation on the North End of the lake. Anybody else frequent Lake Tyler much? Quote
Ken Smith Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I've spent a bunch of time over there. The west lake is the "old" lake, or the original. I haven't been there this year but last I was there there was some grass in both lakes, but I suspect with the water level up and down that may not be the case now. There are lots and lots of local guys over there that keep the lake well brushed. I've generally had better success fishing offshore on the west lake and boat houses on the east, but that may just be because I have that preconceived notion when I get there and that's what I go with. You are correct on the north end of the east lake, I will tell you however with the rain they have been getting that will generally get off color up there really quickly. Also both lakes have some underwater shallow spots on the north end, so pay attention to where you are running. 2 Quote
