I have red some suggestions on this forum for fishing with a "trick" worm rig weightless.  How exactly do you fish the worm?  I assume you allow it to sink to the bottom and use a similiar technique as a weighted Texas rig?

Thanks!

I have fished them mainly on weedlines. I either just cast it and let any current do the work for me, work it with slight twitches like a plastic style jerkbait, or just a lift and let fall, like I would a a regular texas rig. I also had a draw partner that was crushing them fishing it on hydrilla. He would throw it and let it settle on top of the cover and the bass would just pick it up. Those are the ways I have seen and used myself. I guess they are about the same though.

Let it sink, usually takes a lil longer without the weight.  slow twitches of the rod then reel in lil line, then repeat.  Whenever i throw it over lillys usually just twitch it over the top and let it sit, once it hits a hole.  U better be ready, or right after it falls of around the lillys back into the open water.  Also had success letting it slowly sink but halfway done give a lil twitch.twitch and it'll give an action like its jerking from one side to the other. Hope this helps

They take a bit to fall.  Just grab a beer and enjoy the view.  Then when you remember you have a worm out there, twitch it a little, wait, pick up a little.  Very laid back fishing.   Nothing like assaulting with a spinner or crank, this is more mellow.

I just got back from Fishing Rodman and used the unweighted trick worm in junebug and watermelon red with a great deal of success.  Using a 7' MH Avid rod with 50 lb. Power Pro braid.  I threw the trick worm with a 3/0 Gamakatsu hook right up on shore and slowly jiggled it into the water.  Fished it out to about 4 or 5 foot of water.  Most strikes occured right next to or going over the nastiest lily pads, timber, hydrilla, etc you could find.  A friend of mine put me onto this way of fishing and he has caught bass up to 8 pounds and I personally saw him catch a 6 lber out of lily pads in about 4 foot of water.  You have to have a LOT of patience as the trick worm will fall horizontally at about 1/2 the speed of a senko or less.  Very laid back way to fish if you have the patience for it, but it does work and will catch big bass.

I really like skipping these worms (T-rigged/weightless) under overhanging branches and docks.  I fish it just like a regular weighted T-rig.  Like others have said, it is a slower technique because of the lack of mass.
