Super User ChrisD46 Posted July 24, 2014 Super User Posted July 24, 2014 Just curious if Flukes , Super Flukes , etc. color selection follows the typical soft plastics color selection process of lighter shades in clear water / sunny days and darker colors in stained water / cloudy / night conditions ? Some people may only throw a Pearl , Shad and possibly a Baby Bass color ...Recently I read where a prominent Pro throws a dark color Fluke in clear water / sunny conditions and a Pearl color in stained water / night conditions and I thought that logic sounded odd ...Your thoughts on Fluke color selection that works for you ? Super User Choporoz Posted July 24, 2014 Super User Posted July 24, 2014 I pretty much only carry pumpkin and shad anymore. I haven't found that water clarity is any indication of which is going to work. I start with green. If it appears slow, I'll switch to the silvery. If that slows, I'll go back to green. I haven't figured out any rhyme or reason....except that I NEVER had any consistent or repeatable luck with white/pearl. Quote
TheSmilingSwordsman Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 My three most successful colors are: 1. Baitfish, 2. White Ice, 3. Watermelon. All three have proven to be good choices in clear water. I'm not sure that any one color outperforms the others, even though I have the most confidence in Baitfish. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted July 25, 2014 Super User Posted July 25, 2014 Whiteish, smoke, smoke w/white belly are the only colors I use but I pour my own with a lot of salt. When in doubt just use white as it will work in any water clarity. Allen 1 Quote
Bank4Bass Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Pearl and baby bass are the only colors I use Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 25, 2014 Super User Posted July 25, 2014 The problem with the popular color selection process is the bass do not read it! I've had extreme success this year in off colored water with watermelon slice which is completely opposite of what many have said I should be throwing. Having caught bass up to & exceeding 10# I'll take the bass's opinion over that of a color selection process. 2 Quote
Super User Raul Posted July 25, 2014 Super User Posted July 25, 2014 I´m with Catt in this issue, choose a color you like and fish it with faith. I LIKE three colors: Baby Bass, Baitfish, White Ice Fish them anywhere and why I like them because they have glitter and they are shiny so if the water is clear they´ll see it flashing and if the wáter is muddy they will see it too. 1 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted July 25, 2014 Super User Posted July 25, 2014 Mocassin blue, watermelon (various varieties) pearl (rarely use) and bubblegum. those seem to work for me. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted July 26, 2014 Super User Posted July 26, 2014 Pearl...that is all. Lol x2 Sometimes I'll get a little crazy and throw White Ice. 1 Quote
Mr. BattleArmor Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 I use Watermelon Red 99% of the time, unless the bass are following it but not hitting it. Then I switch the color to Pearl or Junebug depending on clarity Quote
dam0007 Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 The all white one All year long, sunny, over cast, rain, doesn't matter. I've bought other colors but always had luck with my default so others have been a waste of $... For me anyways Quote
