so i was reading an article on the website about what you should have in your tackle box. I got to the part where it said that you should carry spare rod tips because yours might break. when i saw this i was like "pfft i never broke a rod tip before, that will never happen."

A couple hours later at the lake, guess what ? yup, i tried to set the hook so hard my rod tip broke off.

Thats what i get for being so oblivious to the fact that rods can break.

I had a thread similar to this going a while back.  I never, in fifty years of fishing, broke a rod tip.  Shortly after saying so here in print, I broke the tip off of a rod that I'd built myself.  Call it a jinx or a curse, or whatever but it's out there.  Just ask those guys that made the cover of 'Sports Illustrated'

I read a thread about scratching curados and I scratched my brand new tatula

then I read a thread about fish swallowing crankbaits all the way to the back of the throat and said that never happens to me, boom happens the next day haha

Read another thread about spilling JJ's and I said if your carefull it won't spill and I spill a whole jar the next day.

Not that long ago I had a favorite old Berkley Lightning Rod which was scratched, worn, and most of the lettering had long since worn away.  It was the first "expensive" rod I ever bought and I was beginning to think it would last forever when it managed to work it's way under a cleat in my boat. Went to lift it up and CRACK!  Oh well!  Rest in Peace (or in pieces) old trusty Lightning Rod.  :  (

My first good rod was a Berkley Lightning Rod, got it back in the early 80´s, this wasn´t your everyday 30 dollar LR, this was THE 100 DOLLARS very first LR, yes, I s*t you not, back in those days they did cost 100 dollars which in those days was a friggin´ truckload of money ! I still have that rod, hundreds of hours of fishing, thousands of casts made, thousands of fish caught, including my first 10 lbr, my PB and a big bunch of 10 to 13 lbers.

It took my son 2 outings to pop off the danged ceramic insert from the tip :cry4: . WTH ! :Idontknow:
