LakeNormanFishing Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 What do you guys think about this for a beginner combo? Is it worth it? or should I just save for a separate rod and reel combo? http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12661238 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Not bad at the sale price. Order some line and a few baits to make the $100 min, take $20 off and you end up with a rod, reel, line and baits for $80. At list price I'd say look to step up for better value but at that $ even if you get 2 seasons out of it you did ok. Quote

They are good combos for the money. The medium heavy on your link is especially good IMO. I think a medium heavy rod at that length is very versatile. Quote
jignfule Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 I'm sure they are good for the money, My friend that is learning baitcasting has one and stuggles to the point of frustration. May I suggest that it might be money well spent to buy a better reel. I think it will make the process of learning a baitcaster much easier and much less frustrating. Quote
