Icast Winner Predator Xl- Central Electronics/trolling Console!

As a kayak angler, I have been a huge fan of both the Predator series and the Ride 115x for some time.  I love the full flat floor of the predator but always felt the 115x edged it out because of the availability for the central port for electronics.  Well Old Town just went New Age...  This thing looks amazing!  Not only do you get center console port that handles electronics, but now a trolling motor too!  Also with a central/front location, it will really act like a normal trolling motor, "pulling" instead of "pushing" as with other trolling motor setups currently available.

I am blown away.  Sure, it'll be very expensive and heavy once you put a motor and electronics unit in it, but that is a SERIOUS rig that pretty much changes the game for kayak fishermen- in a really slick and capable package no less.  Previously, one would have to deal with trolling motors, transducers, etc. all separately, now it's all in one easy console...  On a boat that already has a fantastic layout!  Man, I think I'm in love!

that thing is a beast.....  i just say when you have to have a trailer to tow the thing and will likely cost a FORTUNE, why not look into a boat? 

BUT if you are in the market for the top of the line super bad@ss kayak, this looks like the one!

It is a nice idea. I was looking at them last night (online). Looks a little too beefy in the deck area for my liking. Not to say it isn't a cool idea. I would definitely have to sit in one to get the proper feel before I put down the $$.

 

That said, it is cheaper than buying a Hobie + evolve (although that is a Torqueedo kit).

 

As it stands, I'm good with my Native Ultimate 12 e-hybrid-yak (30 lb MK on the back similar to BassYaks). The U12 is rather light compared to the newer boats. Then again, it doesn't have a full rotomolding of regular kayak.

 

Nice to see innovation on the kayaking front.

I absolutely love my Ride 115x but that is one SICK idea!  Not sure if it would sway me if I was still on the market but this is a very nice idea.

Nice but I'm not too impressed. A bug hunk of plastic! Make that kayak with the same strength, weight around 76 pounds, and under $1,100 and then I'll be impressed. Those big kayaks look more like fancy one person boats than simple kayaks. Definitely not the kind you throw in the back of your truck at a moments notice and do some quick kayak fishing for an hour or so.

Still for what it is, it looks nice and I would probably enjoy having one if I lived on a lake.

I felt the same exact way when I first looked at it. Then I thought about it some more... The center console is removable so you can handle the boat without it most of the time, then put it in when you get to the water.

Still... It's heavy and big for sure no doubt. I've never been into gigantic kayaks but this one at least has a good reason to be so large and is still a very capable ride for sure.

I just like seeing innovation. Especially marked improvements and big jumps in ability or equiement implementation. I'll probably never own this boat but It's still REALLY cool!
