Preytorien Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I like fishing a senko when the tough summer bite is on. Usually I use the Yum F2 Dinger or a Yamamoto Senko, but lately I've been using the Ocho. I've noticed a couple things..... 1. They're a bit less durable than other worms I've tried.....think the Yamamoto. While the action is great, the durability isn't as much, which if I'm reading correct tends to be the trade-off, the Yum or SK Shim-e-stick's seem to be a bit more long-lived 2. They fall a bit faster than other senkos (weightless) that I've tried. The difference isn't huge, but if you're fishing them a bit deeper than normal, it's nice to have them fall through the column a bit faster 3. Whether the shimmer of the flat sides or shimmy action from thereof is a gimmick or not, they seem to catch fish as well or even better than other senkos I've used Might give em' a try. I was in the need of a pack of senkos, grabbed them off the KVD display at the store, and was pleasantly surprised that they're pretty darn good. 2 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted July 21, 2014 Super User Posted July 21, 2014 I like the Ocho's. SK's "Perfect Plastic" is very soft and makes for a great stick bait. Like you said though, the durability isn't very good. That seems to be the trade off for great action in these baits. I don't know if the flat sides help or not but the bait performs really well. bassin is addicting Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 i've fished them for a year or so..and i do like them. they are soft(er) like a senko...and not durable as you mention...but good action.. a little less money than senkos.....a good alternative imo Quote
VolFan Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I love them. They are the only stick bait I buy anymore. They aren't very durable, but the keep their action if you take up to 1-2 inches off as long as you cut clean and have the appropriate-sized hook. The flat sides make it rotate side to side on the longitudinal axis which really seems to help. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted July 21, 2014 Super User Posted July 21, 2014 I like the Ocho. Great shimmy. Already mentioned by others ... durability is not it's strong suit but the way it is works. Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted July 21, 2014 Super User Posted July 21, 2014 I forgot my jig trailers one day, so I threw an Ocho on as a jig trailer. It worked Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted July 21, 2014 Super User Posted July 21, 2014 I like em too, I have some of the biggest size, and I think it's a good stix bait. Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 They work great. But the smell gives me a headache... Quote
PersicoTrotaVA Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I have 3 different senko style plastics, Yum F2 Dinger(my favorite), Backwater T-float stick worm(2nd fav) and the KVD Ochos(3rd fav). I don't use GYCB senkos, they are too expensive. I like the Ocho a lot even though it's my 3rd fav outta what I fish. The coffee scent is amazing and stays around a looooooooooooonnnnngggggggg time. It's basically my last resort, I just wish I could find it in Red shad color... Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 22, 2014 Global Moderator Posted July 22, 2014 I like them but they aren't my favorite. I'm really becoming a fan of the Havoc Flat Dawg if I'm fishing one weightless. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 22, 2014 Super User Posted July 22, 2014 I've got several packs left still. While they aren't my favorite stick bait, they aren't bad either. Quote
Jon G Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I use them but the Big Bite Bait Trick Stick is also pretty good imo especially for $6 for a pack of 25 Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted July 25, 2014 Super User Posted July 25, 2014 I have a few packs of 7" & 5" that havent really used. Well thanks to this thread I took a pack of 7" ochos off the pegboard and wacky rigged one up. I tossed it on some slop and this is the result 18" 3 pounds 1st pic just see the ocho top of my thumb Quote
smallieking Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 they've been out for awhile. I def like senkos more but the ocho is much more durable so when I really get into them on senkos I often switch to the ocho just so I don't waste as many expensive senkos. I do prefer the ocho on a drop shot over a senko on a dropshot. Quote
