What's the most times anyone has ever caught the same fish?

I have now caught the same 2lb bass 4 times now out of my sister in law's pond. I know it's the same fish because the first time I caught it was on a large segmented wake bait and it left a pretty good gash on the right side of the bottom of its mouth. That was on the 3rd of July. Then I caught it two more times that weekend on a jig. This evening I caught it again on a jig to make 4 times total. The gash had healed pretty well in the two weeks since it was made.

Over a three year period I caught and released the same tagged fish eleven times.

I was part of the group that tagged and released forty bass into a 60 acre pond. Members of that group then fished the pond a minimum of four times a year for three years recording information for the study the group that had purchased the fish was conducting. That same fish was caught a total of 27 times over that period!

I caught a smallie once that wiggled my bugger off and back into the water... tied on another and caught him right back and retrieved my bugger: )

We tagged some fish with twist ties through the bottom jaw in a private lake once. I managed to catch the same bass 3 times in one summer. Once in 2' of water on the south end of the lake, once suspended 8' down over 12' of water at midlake, and once in 5' of water off the north end of the lake.

I have caught the same prespawn female in the exact same spot, in the same water temp, on the same exact Jig and Beaver 3 times in 3 years. This year, she was 1/2lb short of my PB. I've caught her twice only once in the same year and that was on a frog in the same area she spawns. She has a distinct scaring/black spot on her left side.

4 times in the same week, I'm shure I could have caught it at least once more but I didn't beat the pond everyday.

Maybe there is something about C&R...

Very interesting results.

I was fishing on Lake George, NY with a guide one summer a number of years ago, and caught a nice sized deep water lake trout that had two hooks, mine and one from a previous angler. Attached to the other hook was a long line that we pulled up until we recovered from the depths an expensive rod and reel that my guide recognized as belonging to one of the other guides. My guide called his buddy on the radio: "So you dropped your rod in the lake with a fish on, you idiot, didn't you?"

"How the h*** could anyone know that? I was fishing alone yesterday and didn't tell a soul about it!" My guide didn't respond back, and later that day left the salvaged rod and reel at its owner's doorstep. I kept the fish.

Actually I´ve caught the same fish twice in the same day a few minutes apart in the same location ( not the same spot )

haha I caught my friends bass on the same day. His line snapped and about 2 hours later I pulled it up with his missing lure, he was pretty excited about getting that back.

Lol I've always wondered if I could do that with jacks or bowfin, sometimes though I'll get my crank bit off by a jack and an hour or so later I'll see it float back up to the surface because he shook it out haha

Any chance the study was published?  This would be a fascinating read for sure.

We had the same thing happen last year. My buddy got busted off by a fish, then I caught it off the same spot using the exact same bait later that day and it still had his bait in it's mouth.
